Poetry
The prophet said
God is always speaking.
and I gasped and
thought, I hope not.
I hope He isn't
ever verbalizing
because I get tired of
words, words, words
Where is the escape
button on words.
Silence!
But I would not mind
- no, I think I would
be glad -
if He showed up
just on the chair
flashing at me
His flaming eyes
or dancing with me
in the middle
of a pine forest
with rain drops
echoing His
heartbeat
or if He
surrounded
me with a
holy hug so
snug and comfy
that all pain
slips away
Now that
would be
just fine.
But does He
really always
have to
speak?
Honestly?
I thought
He was called
the Prince of
Peace.
Maybe He always
speaks to that
prophet
and perhaps
she's genuinely
happy about it
But I am relieved
He isn't always
talking to me
That would drive
me nutty.
Maybe she means
He's always
communicating
That He's always
sending out
nonverbal signals,
warm fuzzies,
pleasant vibes,
painting pictures
in the sky,
moving upon
emotions like
lightening and fire,
filling the room
with the awakening
scent of His cologne.
Now I could handle that
And if I felt Him smile
on me like a ray
of sunlight through
a window
now that would
be something
to arouse
my wilting
drooping
soul.
And if I
heard Him
laugh in the
distance
I would
laugh as
well.
But don't
tell me God
is always talking
it would break
my heart
and my mind
would split
in two.
Besides,
I thought
the world
was always
yickedy-yakking
and playing
it's blasted boom box
of white noise.
Git back world
for I am entering
the God zone
because you are the
one driving me
there.
But I say
the Lord is
always
present,
with us,
there.
He's
Jehovah-Shammah
Emmanuel
He knows
how to
mesh
with His
own.
And
“sometimes”
He talks.
Maybe
more to the
prophet;
maybe more
to the one
that likes
to talk.
