HOW MANY TIMES… by Susan Allen
2 Samuel 22:33 (NLT)—God is my strong fortress; He has made my way safe.
Jesus speaks to us every day. You may be wondering, “When? How many times do you hear Him speak?” Think of a time you couldn’t find your keys and you were in a hurry to leave the house, or some incident that delayed you. That was Jesus telling you not to leave yet. He doesn’t speak out loud, but He is talking to you with a quiet manner throughout a situation. When you finally find your keys, you drive off and see an accident up ahead. You find out that it happened fifteen minutes ago—the exact time it took for you to leave your house.
Jesus is always with us and knows everything that is going on around us now and in the future. He never leaves us; we are the ones that take our eyes off Jesus and walk away. He is always there, waiting for us to return to Him. He loves and cares so much that He wants to protect us by being our fortress—the strong one we depend on in our weakest moments. How many times do we go to Jesus first? It is human nature to go to our spouse or friends before thinking about Jesus’ help. People have their advice, but was Jesus invited through prayer? He wants to be number one in our lives. Have faith in Him.
