KEEP YOUR MAN OUT OF DELILAH’S HOUSE.
I believe that this article is timely because every day a home is being destroyed physically, spiritually and financially by ‘the other woman.’ Many women’s hearts are broken; many children’s destinies are ruined as the father of the home leaves home in pursuit of ‘Delilah’.
Women it is my prayer that this article will teach you how to keep your husband away from the arms of the strange woman.
WHO IS DELILAH?
The Bible first mentions Delilah in Judges 16:4 “And it came to pass that he loved a woman in the valley of Sorek whose name was Delilah”.
Delilah was the woman that Samson loved. She was the woman to whom he told the secret of his strength. She was the woman who sold him to his enemies for eleven hundred pieces of silver. She was the woman who killed him and terminated his glorious destiny. This is who Delilah is. She represents the other woman, the seductress who tries to lure your man away from you, the adulteress, and the strange woman who entices your man with her words. Call her what you will but be sure to keep your man out of her house.
THE NATURE OF DELILAH.
• Delilah Is Deceptive
She deceived Samson into telling her the secret behind his strength. H e had no idea she would turn around and use it against him. He thought they loved each other and that his secret was safe with her but he found out too late that this was not the case. Delilah will always make a man think he can trust her that he is safe with her but many men like Samson find out through bitter experiences that Delilah is not to be trusted.
• Delilah Is Not Always A Single Woman
Hello women, I’ve got news for those of you who think that while your husband is safe with married women he’s not to be let loose around single women lest they snatch him.
The breaking news is married women can snatch your man just as easily and as readily as single women. I hear you say “but what about their husbands?” and I say “haven’t you heard about women cheating on their husbands? And what about the woman in Proverbs 7 who said to the man “come let us take our fill of love until the morning: let us solace ourselves with love. For the goodman is not at home, he is gone on a long journey” (Prov.7:18-19).
That woman was married ma, yet she was trying to lure another man, probably some woman’s husband to her bed in her husband’s absence. So please know this, that a woman is married does not mean your husband is safe with her. She could want your husband badly enough to kiss her husband goodbye. Please be wise.
• Delilah Wears The Attire Of A Harlot
In Proverbs 7:10, the Bible describes the woman as wearing the attire of a harlot. As we know a harlot is a woman who sells her body for money. What kind of attire does a harlot wear? She wears clothes that reveal rather than cover up her body. This is because her body is for sale therefore she needs to display it to let prospective buyers see what they are about to purchase. Also this woman understands that men are sexually enticed by what they see. Be wary of women who expose their body when they dress. They are out to attract men and yours could become a prey.
• Delilah Is A Murderer
I am not mincing words here. I know a man who died in the house of his mistress and I have heard about a man who had a heart attack and died while having sexual intercourse with his secretary in the office. Delilah killed Samson (Judges 16) and she is still killing men today. The Bible says concerning her “yea, many strong men have been slain by her” (Prov. 7:26). She is a killer don’t toy with her; you think she’s just having sex with your man? You are ignorant. She is gradually turning you into a widow and making your children fatherless. Be careful.
• Delilah Is Religious
This woman can be found even in the house of God. Surprise! Surprise! She pretends to be a Christian. She goes to church regularly and may even belong to a service group in her local church. She knows the language of the church. In Proverbs 7:14, the woman talks about peace offerings and paying her vows. She tells the Christian man that there is nothing wrong with what they are doing, that they are only making each other happy and God wants all His children to be happy. However, the truth remains that Delilah is an agent of Satan, an instrument in the hands of the Devil used to cause men to fall especially men in the body of Christ. She is a trap, and he is her prey. (Prov.23:27-28).
The Characteristics Of Delilah’s House.
• Delilah’s House Is In The Valley
In Judges 16:4, we are told that Delilah lives in the valley of Sorek. Her house is inside a valley therefore a man in Delilah’s house is in the valley, in the pit of life. A man who goes to Delilah’s house goes down, he reduces physically, spiritually, financially, etc. I have seen men who started well but began to go down once they started to associate with strange women. Delilah never brings a man increase she only brings decrease. The Bible says that by means of a whorish woman a man is brought to a piece of bread (Prov. 6:26). And women please know that when your husband goes down, you also go down and with you, your children.
• Delilah’s House Is Deceptive.
The house of this woman is as deceptive as its owner. It appears to be a place of bliss. I say bliss because the woman in proverbs 7 took her time to beautify and perfume her bedroom for sex (Prov.7:16-17). And Samson slept on the knees of Delilah (Judges16:19).
• Delilah’s House Is The Way To Hell
We are told in Proverbs 7:27 that Delilah’s house is the way to hell. This is so true because when a man dies in Delilah’s house he gets a one way ticket to hell and I don’t care how many titles he held in his local church.
• Delilah’s House Is A Place Of Captivity
From Judges 14 to 16 we see that several attempts were made to bind Samson and take him captive but all of these attempts failed. However it was in the house of Delilah that the Philistines were able to bind Samson and take him captive. The Bible says, “but the Philistines took him” (Judges 16:21).
• Delilah’s House Is A Den
In Delilah’s house a man’s enemies are lying in wait at every corner waiting to pounce on the man. In Judges 16, we see that the Philistines were lying in wait in Delilah’s house constantly waiting for the opportunity to pounce on Samson (Judges 16:9, 12).
• Delilah’s House Is A Place Where A Man Loses His Vision
In Judges 16:21, Samson’s eyes were put out right inside Delilah’s house. Eyes represent vision. Samson lost his vision and he became blind. In Delilah’s house a man can lose his vision for his life and his vision for his family.
• Delilah’s House Is A Place Where God’s Presence Departs.
It was in the house of Delilah that the presence and the Spirit of God left Samson and he was not even aware until it was too late. Samson said “I will go out as at other times before, and shake myself. And wist not that the Lord was departed from him” (Judges16:20). And when God’s presence leaves a man he becomes a cheap prey for the enemy. Any evil in the book is free to befall him.
• Delilah’s House Is A Place Where A Man Loses Strength And Purpose
Samson was born to deliver Israel from the hands of the Philistines and he was given the strength for the accomplishment of this assignment (Judges13:5). However, he lost both the purpose and the strength to accomplish it in Delilah’s house (Judges16:19-21). A man who should have delivered Israel from the Philistines became a captive of the Philistines.
• Delilah’s House Is A Place Of Defeat
Samson won every battle against the Philistines until he entered Delilah’s house. It was in Delilah’s house that he went from winning to losing. It was in Delilah’s house that he was defeated (Judges 16:20-21).
• Delilah’s House Is A Place Of Torture And Pain
As Samson slept on Delilah’s knees, the Bible says that she began to afflict him (Judges 16:19). Affliction is not a sweet experience but an unpleasant one. No one in his right mind looks forward to affliction. Affliction brings sorrow, pain and torment and this was Samson’s experience in Delilah’s house as he went to sleep on her knees.
• Delilah’s House Is A Place Of Sexual Immorality.
When a man goes to Delilah’s house he engages in sexual immorality and his marriage bed is defiled. The Bible says in Hebrews 13:4 “marriage is honourable in all and the bed undefiled”. As long as your marriage bed is undefiled your marriage is honourable however once your marriage bed is defiled shame becomes inevitable in your marriage. You will not see shame in Jesus name. Another evil of sexual immorality is that when a man has sex with a harlot he becomes one with the harlot (1 Corinth.6:16-20). His body which is God’s temple is defiled and this could cause the Holy Spirit to depart making the man susceptible to demonic possession. Also because the man is one with the strange woman, he becomes a victim of any affliction or curse she is operating under. For example if the strange woman is operating under a curse of poverty, a man who becomes one with her through sexual intercourse automatically comes under the same curse of poverty and it is only a matter of time before the manifestation begins. Also if she is under the influence of demonic spirits or gods the man also comes under the same influence and sadly when he sleeps with his wife he brings her under the same influence too. Sexual immorality can cause God to destroy a person (1 Corinth.10:8). Sexual immorality as we all know can lead to sickness and terminal diseases (Prov.5:3-11).
Why Does A Man Go To Delilah’s House?
Men go after strange women for all kinds of reasons. Some say it’s boring to continue to have sex with the same woman. They say you can’t eat egusi soup everyday sometimes you should try ogbono or okra soup after all variety is the spice of life. Others say their wives starve them of sex, still others say their wives don’t treat them properly so they resort to the woman outside. One hears all kinds of reasons; some are genuine but not enough to break the word of God. In my opinion a man goes to Delilah’s house because he lacks understanding and the Bible says in Proverbs 6:32 “but whoso committeth adultery with a woman lacketh understanding: he that doeth it destroyeth his own soul.” Also the man in Proverbs 7 who was lured away by the strange woman was described as a man void of understanding (Prov.7:6-7). He had no understanding of the physical and spiritual consequences attached to having sex with a strange woman. He had no understanding that there is nothing casual about sex. The act itself may last a few minutes but the consequences can last a life time.
In Proverbs 9:13-18, the adulterous woman sits outside her house calling passengers who go on their way and the Bible says “whoso is simple(lacking understanding) let him turn in thither and as for him that wanteth understanding she saith to him, stolen waters are sweet and bread eaten in secret is pleasant (Prov.19:16-17). A man without understanding believes that what he does, he does in secret but a man of understanding knows that while his wife may not know, God knows and sees all and as a result there is really no secret.
From the above scriptures it is clear that no matter what is wrong in a man’s marriage he will not go after another woman unless he is a man who lacks understanding. Therefore his desire to go after the strange woman is not because of a problem in his marriage but because of a lack of understanding.
How To Keep Your Man Out Of Delilah’s House
One of the ways you can keep your man out of Delilah’s house is by observing her to see how she gets your man and then using her strategies to keep your man with you and away from her. And remember that because you are married to that man God is on your side and therefore you are sure to win.
Some Of Delilah’s Strategies Are:
• She prepares for sex. And we see this in Proverbs 7:16-17. This is very important in spicing up your sex life because men tend to get bored very quickly. Don’t get so accustomed to sex that you treat it as something you do at 10:00pm before you fall asleep or at 4:00am before you wake up. Prepare for it, because preparation will make the difference between sex and great sex. Prepare your mind so that you are in the mood for it when the time comes. Prepare your body; take a bath wear something enticing or nothing at all, he’s not complaining. Prepare your environment. Your house should be clean and tidy and smelling sweet, change your bed sheets and put some perfume on them if you can. Get the children out of the way, you can send them to bed early or to grandma’s house or a friend’s. It may not be practical to prepare this way all the time but I tell you if you prepare for sex as often as you can and use your imagination to make it fun and exciting Delilah will have a hard time trying to lure your man into her bed.
• She pursues after him. The woman in Proverbs 7 said to the man “therefore came I forth to meet thee diligently to seek thy face, and I have found thee” (Prov.7:15). Women chase after your men. I know the right order is for a man to chase after a woman but now that he has chased you and married you, it is time for the hunter to become the hunted. Ask him out on a date occasionally, and PLEASE initiate sex. Invite him out to dinner at a hotel of your choice some night and then tell him while you’re having dinner that you want to have sex and would he like to stay the night because you’ve already made room reservations. If that doesn’t blow his mind I don’t know what will. Invite him into your bed and into your arms. The woman in Proverbs 7 invited the man to have sex with her. She said to him “come, let us take our fill of until the morning” (Proverbs 7:18). Now that is a very tempting invitation even if your husband was angry with you he’ll reconsider. And chasing your man makes him feel wanted and makes it easier for him to approach you when he wants sex. Some men find it difficult to approach their wives when they want sex because they’re thinking “I may be disturbing her, she may reject me”. So they stay away and instead of the wife to be concerned, she’s thinking “Thank God, finally I get a few days break from sex”. But what she fails to realise is that her husband, with a suppressed sexual desire, becomes a cheap prey for Delilah.
• She entices men with her body. This woman understands that men are carried away by what they see so she wears the attire of a harlot as she leaves her house to go in search of a man (Prov.7:10). Women please imitate her in this area too. When you are all alone at home with your husband wear clothes that reveal your body. I assure you your husband will not complain at all. However if this is not possible because you have people living with you then wait until you can have some privacy or you could go to a hotel for the weekend occasionally. Look for one that you can afford and budget for it. Remember it’s your marriage you are investing in.
• She flatters men. Men love to be admired and Delilah knows this so she admires them. However her admiration is not sincere so it is flattery. You don’t want to flatter your man. Don’t tell him he looks good when you know he doesn’t (that would be flattery). Instead look for things about him that you can sincerely compliment. And do this often. In Proverbs 7:21 it is evident that Delilah gets a man through flattery. The Bible says “with her much fair speech she caused him to yield, with the flattering of her lips she forced him”. Women praise your men or Delilah will. A praise starved man is just as easy a prey for Delilah as a sex starved man. Appreciate his every effort and overlook his shortcomings.
• She takes care of her appearance. Remember this woman dresses in the attire of a harlot before leaving home to catch a man (Prov.7:10). What this says for her is that she pays attention to the way she looks. I want to believe that she would have had a bath before wearing her clothes; she would have perfumed her body as much as she perfumed her bed, and she would have done her hair and put on some make up. And of course she would have cleaned her teeth especially as she knows she’s going to do a lot of talking to convince the guy to come home with her and please note that it took seven verses of continuous preaching before the guy yielded (Prov.7:13-21). I’m sure if her breath stank she would not have finished the first verse before the guy would have taken to his heels. What am I trying to say women? How you look and smell is important to your man. Don’t send your husband off to work in your filthy nightdress and grubby undies and then welcome him home at the end of the day, in the same filthy nightdress and grubby undies. If you do you will turn him off and then he’ll start staying back longer at the office working over time when no one asked him to until the secretary with the min skirt lures him into her bed. Women, one word is enough for the wise.
• She takes care of her home. This woman goes to the extra length of beautifying and perfuming her bed to make it inviting (Prov.7:16-17). It is obvious that her home must be clean and tidy. You don’t decorate or perfume a bed in a dirty house. Women make your men look forward to coming home after a long hard day at the office and one way to do this is to ensure that your home is always clean and tidy. Make an extra effort to always do a quick clean up before he’s due home.
Other Ways To Keep Your Man Out Of Delilah’s House
• Treat your husband with respect. All the other strategies mentioned will not work as they should unless you treat your husband with respect. He is the king of his palace and he should be treated as such (even if that palace is a one room apartment which you’re paying for because he’s currently out of work). When your husband gets home from work make sure you are home to welcome him especially if you’re a full time house wife. Make sure the house is clean and tidy. Make sure his food is ready (cook for your man or someone else will) serve him, don’t say “dear your food is on the table eat it while it’s hot” and then disappear. Sit and talk with him while he eats, better still eat with him if you haven’t already eaten. If your husband comes home with guests and you’re going to serve them make sure you serve your husband first even if one of the guests is the president of Nigeria. Remember that you are not the president’s wife and your home is not Aso Rock so the president should wait until your husband has been served unless your husband says otherwise. Also when you serve your husband make sure you always use your best plates. Don’t serve him with chipped plates and keep the expensive dishes in the cupboard and say “these are only to be used for VIP guests”. That is disrespect of your husband’s person and position as king in his palace.
• Treat your husband with kindness. The Bible says that love is kind (1Corinth.13:4). Let your words and actions to your husband reflect kindness. Don’t badmouth him or his family either to his face or behind his back. Be courteous; say please, thank you and I’m sorry whenever appropriate. Don’t be a contentious and quarrelsome woman or else you may lose your husband to another woman in a bid to prove you are right or have your way.
• Don’t starve him sexually. Once you are married you body is no longer yours but your husband’s and vice versa (1Corinth.7:4). Therefore don’t hold back if your husband wants to have sex with you. In 1 Corinthians 7:5 the Bible warns that we should not defraud one another except it is with consent for a time to give ourselves to fasting and prayer and that we should come together again lest Satan tempt us. So a man who is sex starved will be temped by Satan and is more likely to fall than a man who is not sex starved. And let me quickly say that sex is not only for procreation because so many women have this belief and so they starve their husbands of sex. Sex is also for pleasure and Proverbs 5:18-19 makes this clear.
• Pray. God’s help is always available to us if we would ask. Ask God to make you a better wife. Ask him to give your husband a full understanding about the dangers of strange women and sexual immorality and ask Him to give your husband grace to resist Satan’s temptations. Ask God to keep your husband out of Delilah’s house by His power. Use the blood of Jesus to keep every Delilah away from your husband and if there is one in his life use the blood of Jesus to separate them.
• Become a child of a God. Until God becomes your father He is not obliged to hear your prayers but if you would like to become a child of God then say the prayer below:
Heavenly Father, thank you for loving me
Thank you for sending Jesus to die for me
Lord Jesus I believe you died for me on the cross
And that you rose on the third day
I repent of my sins, please forgive me
I ask you to come into my heart
I confess that you are Lord
Therefore I am now born again
I am now a child of God
Free from Satan to serve the living God. Amen.
