The Sanctuary, Holy of Holies
When we say sanctuary immediately we think of some Temple or Church. The Sanctuary is a consecrated place but that place I am talking about this morning is that place in Christ that takes you before the Throne of God. That place takes us out of our present state of flesh into the spiritual into the presence of a Holy God. We take the Temple at Jerusalem where the people went up to the Temple on certain occasions for feasts. They considered the Temple the Holy of Holies where the ark was kept. When should live our lives clean, pure, and holy so that we too can go to the Throne of God in the spirit.
Psalms 73 show us that what David thought to be important was not important at all. He made the comparison between the purposes as to the wicked and the righteous. Truly God is good to Israel even to such as are of a clean heart. Why is a clean heart so important? If our hearts are clean we have put away evil. If we are evil we cannot live a pure life in the earth that will take us to the Throne of Grace. A clean heart puts away worldliness and the character of man is changed. Jesus taught in Luke 6:22 blessed are ye when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you from their company, and shall reproach you and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man’s sake. A clean heart will separate us from the evil and self-righteousness of men.
It will keep us walking straight; for God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it is good or evil. Ananias and Sapphira as beautiful as he name means attempted to enhance his reputation by a show of liberality. He sold property, and pretended to give the entire proceeds to the church, whereupon Peter detected the deceit and its deliberate purpose and laid bare the sin to the guilty conscience of Ananias, who died as a result of the shock. Not only that; but his wife Sapphira followed him in death also because she carried on the evil. They did not think it was evil, but it was and is. Peter was the sanctuary that stood in God’s stead, the Holy of Holies.
We cannot come to God any other way than how He has laid it out for us in His Word. It is high time we awake out of sleep for our salvation is nearer than when we first believed. We are supposed to grow in Word and Grace from the time we take those first steps to the Altar of God. As we learn the Word we cast off the works of darkness in the world and put on the armor of light. We began to walk honestly; not as when we were in the world. We put away strife and envying. As we put on the Lord Jesus Christ we make not provision for the flesh to fulfill the lusts thereof. We put off the works of darkness; Satan and his kingdom. We began to put on patience so that we become strong. When we become strong we can bear the infirmities of the weak and we do it to please God and not ourselves. Our motives become clear that our main purpose is all about God.
It took David a life time to realize how truly good God is; his feet were almost gone and his steps had well slipped. He was envious at the foolish when he saw the prosperity of the wicked. We worry about the wrong things. What we see may not be what we are seeing at all, we must take on the spirit of discernment when we receive the Holy Ghost and that with fire. Sure they were strong in wealth and had plenty in this world but when they would leave it would be left here. We need to have a plenty of God and all that He is; and less of ourselves, the flesh. We that are in Christ is plagued with trouble but not compassed with pride. The wicked is. Pride compasses them about as a chain and violence cover them as a garment. When we become the sanctuary that God wants we don’t worry about riches. We worry about the richness of the Word get out without price. For God so loved the world that He gave; God is always giving.
The rich gets rich and richer, their eyes stand out with fatness and they have more than their hearts can imagine or wish for. Yet they are corrupt and speak wickedly concerning oppression and they speak loftily. They set their mouths against the heavens, are boastful fully denying prayer and righteous living. They increase in riches and prosper in the world but is ungodly for they seek evil against their neighbor to keep these riches and reputation. They sell their soul out to the Devil and every evil work. When it is brought to them the evil of their ways, like David it is too painful for them to swallow and digest. Until David went into the Sanctuary of God in the innermost closet of his being he did not understand the end of the wicked. We cannot despise what God hates until God come alive on the inside of us. Salvation is an inside job. Repentance is an inward conviction but carries an outward appearance. Many try to deceive others with an outward appearance but God knows the heart. He looks on the inside. We are to despise sin as God does so if we look upon ourselves in sin we should hate what we have become outside the will of God.
When we see God, we see people differently also. We should see what we have done to them even more and hate the ignorance and foolishness of our ways. Our hearts should be grieved and our reins pricked. Pride makes us beastly before men, tearing them down like a piece of molten sheetrock off of a wall. This is not God’s way. Consider our ways is what God is saying. When we come to ourselves and really see God, we turn and allow God to take us by the hand and lead us. God will guide us with His counsel and afterward receive us in glory. Who else do we really have other than God? Why would we desire anything or any other than God? There is nothing in this earth that a man should desire more than God. It’s what causes man’s heart to fail because he failed to realize that God is the strength of his heart and his portion forever.
David in Psalm 73:27-28 said for, lo, they that are far from thee shall perish; thou hast destroyed all them that go a whoring from thee. But it is good for me to draw near to God: I have put my trust in the Lord God, that I may declare all thy works. God is in His Sanctuary waiting on us to draw near to Him. He is waiting on us to put our total trust in Him. He is waiting on us to declare His Word and works in the earth. What is wrong with us? It’s time to repent and turn from our wicked evil ways that we have denied forever. It’s time to repent and be baptized again in the Spirit of God. It’s time we come into the Holies of Holy. It’s time our lives change forever. No more turning back to the world for what only God can give. Stop pretending to be alright when we are not okay with God. This is deception and not of God. The Devil comes to lie, steal, kill and destroy but Jesus came that we might have life and that more abundantly. It’s time we went from a forty watt life to a hundred watt life.
It’s time we are about God’s business and not in other men’s business. It’s time we lead others to Christ instead of us following the world to hell. It’s wickedness going on in the Sanctuary of God and it’s time to step up and declare the Word. Evil is present on every hand but what are we going to do about it? Get yourself right with God and let Him right everybody else. Let the Word be famous; not man and stop tearing one another down to build one’s self up. We have cast fire into the Sanctuary and defiled the dwelling places of God; man and the Church. The evil of the heart says lets destroy them together and they cast down and burn up God’s Synagogues. We tear each other down without thought of the consequences. There are spiritual consequences for our actions done in the earth. God stills works salvation in the earth because He loves His Creation. He loves man and it’s time man loved his Creator.
God don’t want another book in the life of man, He wants obedience to His Holy Word! We cannot sweet talk our way into heaven. Everything in the earth obeys God except man that was given a choice. We must deal with ourselves and right the wrong we have done. In the day of trouble seek the Lord and refuse to be comfortable in our souls. Remember God and stop complaining things could be much worse; look at your neighbor. We allow our spirit to be overwhelmed over nothing. Keep our eyes on the one that matters; God. Commune with our hearts and allow our spirit to do a diligent search and call to remembrance all that God has done, is doing, and will do. Has God forgotten us; no! Has He not been gracious unto us? Has He not forgiven us over and over again and it’s time we come to a point where we have to repent less? We must meditate of all God’s work, grace and mercy towards us and talk of His doings; thy way God is in the Sanctuary; who is so great a God as our God? Has not His Holiness been forgotten in the Sanctuary?
Let’s get it right church so we can go to the Throne of God. Learn and preach the Law of God. What we have heard and known, teach our children that they too may teach their children from generation to generation. God has established His testimony in us and command us to make His testimony known through the Lord Jesus Christ. The testimony of Christ should be instilled in every heart that we might set our hope in God and forget not the works of God but keep His Commandments. Those coming after us should not be like us, stubborn and rebellious but better because of our testimony of Jesus Christ. They shall set their hearts right and their spirit more steadfast with God. Teach the children, because one parent didn’t want her child to pray at school, prayer was taken out and we wonder why the children don’t want to go to school. Who wants to be where God is not. America wake up, we are on our way out of here. God is feeding us according to the integrity of His heart and guides us with the skillfulness of His hands; pay attention!
Hear and obey, we are the Sanctuary God is concerned about! We are the ones that will come into the Holy of Holies one day and we can’t go there any kind of way. Repent today, turn from your wicked ways and seek the Lord. Make the step today, it takes a first step
