Poetry
Churning wall of weathering wind,
peeling back layers of my shedding skin,
pummeling me with velocity's violent thrusts,
shredding my life with its torrent gusts.
I'm walking through a hurricane.
An unnamed whirlwind has my home and happiness carried far off,
and the angry huff of heaven derides my desolation with scoff;
circular jet streams have me like a rag doll tossed,
and strewn across my mind all that beaten I have lost.
I'm walking through a hurricane.
A morbid calm surrounds me in the maelstrom's tearless eye,
and strangers, my pale riders, stare passing slowly by,
when comes the sudden twist of the tempest from the other direction,
and stubborn stiff I make no course correction.
I'm walking through a hurricane.
But final will the winds wither and dying subside,
and I will see the debris of love for which I silent, soft, and solitary cried;
still, from the fury passed there will break in my once grey sky,
the prismed arc of hope that by His grace will answer for me every "why?".
I'm walking through a hurricane.
