On the Fence
Jan 16, 2002
By: Rick L. King
There is a man in sin
Sitting on the fence
Jesus is crying out
For him to repent
He looks towards the side with Jesus
But sees the cost that he must give
Wondering is it really worth it
Do I have to lose my life to live?
There is nothing that I see
That a Christian has that I have met
Which can give to me such fun
Though a few hangovers I do get
If I become a Christian
People will think that I am crazy
I can’t give up all my worldly friends
I want to eat, drink, and be merry and lazy
He looks once again towards Jesus
As the Holy Spirit opens his eyes
He sees how he has been misled
And has bought in to satan’s lies
Once again he sees the truth
Yet, he realizes the cost
His pride still won’t let him humble
So he is still eternally lost
He looks at the devil’s side
Oh, it still looks so great
Many selfish pleasures
His desires to saturate
The devil just is too tempting
He wants to give me everything
That will satisfy my flesh
This seems the greatest thing
Besides, what would people say?
If they knew I make mistakes
They think I am great
Me, they even imitate
I can accept Jesus later
As this is too much fun
I just want to eat, drink, and be merry
Later I will accept Gods’ Son
God will always forgive, right?
Any time I come to Him
This pleasure is far too great
I think I will continue in my sin
Later down the road
Once again he is on the wall
The Holy Spirit is working
Trying to get him to give his all
The Holy Spirit then says
This is the last time I will ask you to come
I will no longer strive with you
This is my final call, as My work with you is done
Gods’ love and mercy
Have kept him alive thus far
Though the man has no idea what is ahead
The devil sent a man with a gun to the bar
It is time the devil says
Your soul I now require
You never accepted Jesus
So come join me in the fire
No man can help you now
As you are sold out to me
You said no to Jesus and His gospel
Your home is with me now eternally
It is not God's will
That any man should die
That’s why His Holy Spirit
On the man’s hearts door has knocked and cried
Yet there comes a time for all men
That another chance they may not get
When you say no to Jesus this time
You may have no more chances left.
