My original article entitled " Things That Tick Me Off", geared towards the broad term of "Religion" has had a very good response. So, I decided to continue the thought, by concentrating on the "modern day church".
There again. in the interest of time and article space, this is only a "short list"
CONCERNING PASTOR'S
Preachers who consider their position to be a job rather than a calling, tick me off.
Preachers who implement their own "man made" church agenda over well established Biblical based programs, tick me off..
Preachers who tend to philosophically analyze sin from the pulpit rather than allow God to convict of sin, tick me off.
Preachers who deny the fundamentals of the faith according to the scriptures, tick me off.
Preachers who comment to a contractual tenure, then suddenly leave for a better paying church appointment, tick me off.
Preachers who give short fairy tale dissertations rather than preach the "Word of God", tick me off.
Preachers who build up a congregation then suddenly leave the church with no replacement, tick me off.
Preachers who openly disagree with the basic "fundamentals of the faith", tick me off.
Preachers who do not believe in the full gospel, as taught in 1 Corinthians 15, tick me off.
Preachers who don't visit the sick and needy among their congregation, tick me off.
Preachers who give in to political pressures, tick me off.
ENOUGH PICKING ON PREACHERS FOR NOW, LETS MOVE ON.
CONCERNING THE CHURCH
Church's that have lost their "first love", tick me off.
Church's that are "luke warm", tick me off.
Church's that put a stumbling block before the nation of Israel, tick me off.
Church's that prophetess, and lead others astray, tick me off.
Church's that overlook acts of immorality, tick me off
Church's that draft doctrines outside of Bible principles, tick me off.
Church's, that change pastors when all seems to be going well, tick me off.
Church's catering to one generation over another, tick me off.
Church music that is not based on the scripture, ticks me off.
Church's that get into a formality groove, tick me off.
Church's that emphasize to many rituals, tick me off.
Church's that allow clicks" to form in the church, tick me off.
Church's that place a priority on fund raising over spiritual matters, tick me off.
Church's that are cold and not friendly to "new comers", tick me off.
Church's that do not follow up on visitors, tick me off.
Church's that do not disciple new Christians, tick me off.
The old Deacon once said, " if you ever find a perfect church, don't join it, cause you'll mess it up".
Although, due to the human element involved in church's, one might feel that the church has failed. Not so. From the beginning, ( please read the early church start up in Acts 2) God has always had His church.
" And I tell you that you are Peter,[and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it". ( Matthew 16:18).
Yes, as promised, our marvelous "church age" will continue until Jesus returns to gather us (Christians) up in the sky.
So, find a good Bible believing church, one that preaches the "full gospel".
(Full Gospel 1 Corinthians 15)
Now I make known unto you, brethren, the gospel which I preached to you, which also you have received, and wherein you stand; By which also you are saved, if you hold fast after what manner I preached unto you, unless you have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all, which I also received: how that Christ died for our sins, according to the scriptures: And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day, according to the scriptures: And that he was seen by Cephas; and after that by the eleven.
Now, get involved! Get involved with your spiritual growth. Get involved in winning others to the Lord Jesus.
Amen !
