SHAKE IT OFF
The Lord is amazing and it is really good and nice to be at His feet all the times. And it is good to find comfort in Him because that is His purpose for our lives (Isaiah 61: 1-3).
I’m reminded of a story years ago of a young man who lived on his past. He had lost both his parents at tender age on road traffic accident and he was left in the custody of his paternal uncle. Although the uncle took good care of him there was something very peculiar about this young man who was now in his twenties, every time he faced challenges in his life he would sob so bitterly and when anyone enquired he would respond that if his parents were alive he would not have to go through this. Every time he did so it seemed as if his parents just died yesterday and he would go for hours and even days with this burden of pain. What was happening to this young man everytime he was thinking of his parents? The memories of their deaths became so refreshed in his mind that he lived the memories afresh; it had become some form of disorder.
The death of his parents was like a wound that got healed and left a scar but the young man kept scratching the scar reviving the wound and he would go through the same pain of a fresh wound again. The bible says “forget the former things; do not dwell on the past”_ Isaiah 43:18. Looking back is a trap, forget it and focus on the future. The past has your sorrows and regrets but the future holds your destiny and life fulfillment. It is time to part ways with everything that keeps you biting your nails.
Paul was bitten by a viper and he shook it off into the fire- Acts 28:1-5. That is how a trouble or challenge should be handled, shake it off. For how long are you going to blame yourself or any one for your troubles? Shake that off. There is a season of moaning and a season of joy, you cannot afford to be moaning all your life, shake that off, think positive think God. Jesus is ready to take over your burden of sorrow and disappointment and set you free. What you are meditating upon is what will ultimately rule your life. If Paul had dwelt much on the snake bite I tell you he could have died of it. Paul shook off the serpent - the moment you try to comprehend it in your mind the bigger the matter it becomes. Don’t put your effort into analyzing how big your trouble is, shake it off! The only time you should look back should be when you are praising the Lord for what he did in your life.
Every present time you are caught up between your past, please remember this: - SHAKE IT OFF.
Thanks for your time, God bless you.
