Poetry
From my infancy, God, I walked in Your light,
Now, Lord, I face my bitterest night.
All my life in the desert, Your hand did provide,
Yet I can't help now feeling I've been cast aside.
I saw You, my cousin, God in a man,
Was I that baptised You in the Jordan.
I watched as Your Kingdom took root in our land,
My disciples lefty me, to join in Your band.
I knew and belived this was the way.
My time was over, now comes Your day.
Locked in this dungeon, left here to rot,
Will You release me, or am I forgot?
Doubt sets in, I even now wonder
If You are the One, or is there another?
My God, please, let me see the sun again!
Let me walk under the stars, stand in the rain,
Sleep by the sea, feel the wind on my face!
Don't let me die in this evil place!
In the palace above I hear the revelry cease.
Footsteps on the stairs, I now feel Your peace.
The executioner comes in, Ready with his sword.
I close my eyes and welcome my release, Lord.
