Healing
O wanton soul! Why do you vainly exhaust the attempt to guide YOUR own heart, the seat of YOUR emotions? Is it not Christ Himself who dwells there? Why therefore do you hunger and thirst for YOUR own desires? Does not HIS desire become your very own upon asking Him to dwell there? You at once freely surrendered to Christ, yet slowly and subtly you take back the yolk of YOUR own doing. Burdened by the unending quest for self-satisfaction!
Does this not make you question YOUR feeble ability to guide YOUR own heart? Is it the pain and suffering, the burden of bearing YOUR cross that which you run from? Why? Were you not told by the Lord Himself to pick up YOUR cross and follow after Him? You ask, “Where’s the easy life after laying mine down to have and serve Him?” O, but alas, deceitful heart which so desperately strives for ease of life! For you are amiss! “No pain, no heartache, no toil, no suffering,” is this not what YOUR emotions and heart cry out for? To find it, you may turn and run all your life, over, under, up, down, left, right, forward, and back, but my friend, you will never find it until you go through!
O wretched soul! Why do you stubbornly, with great arrogance, attempt to manage YOUR own will? Did you not die to self when you died to receive life through Christ? Why then do you fight to replace HIS will in you with YOUR own, which you once for all time laid down when you received Him? Did you not ask Him to dwell in you trusting He would enable you to cast off the wretched soul of self-will? You once freely surrendered to Christ, yet slowly and subtly you take back the yolk of YOUR own doing. Burdened by the unending quest for self-exaltation!
Does this not make you question YOUR feeble ability to guide YOUR own will? The spirit is willing but the flesh is weak and is this not why you surrendered to Him, that through HIS SPIRIT you would gain victory over the flesh? O, but alas vain self-will which so desperately strives for lordship of life! For you are amiss! “No law, no rules, no obedience, no sacrifice,” is this not what YOUR will cries out for? To find it you may turn and run all your life, being master of YOUR ship, ruler of YOUR throne, pilot of YOUR life, but my friend you will never find it until you release control to the True Captain of your soul!
O wicked soul! Why do you secretly attempt to sieze the adulterated thoughts of YOUR mind? Was it not Christ who said, “Be holy, for I am Holy?” And is it not HE who dwells within you? Why therefore do you defile the indwelling presence of Christ by way of impure thoughts and motives in YOUR mind? Did He not die to set you free from the captivating thoughts of wickedness that once imprisoned you? Did you not bury these once for all when you died to self to live for Christ? Why then do you once again attempt to pacify yourself with this depravity of mind? Was it not written in God’s holy word, “To PUT ON the MIND of CHRIST,” and “Be not conformed to this world but be transformed by ‘the renewing of your mind’ that you may be able to prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” You at once freely surrendered to Christ, yet slowly and subtly you take back the entrenching yolk of bondage that deteriorates YOUR thought life! Burdened by the unending quest for self-gratification!
Does this not make you question YOUR feeble ability to guard YOUR mind’s insatiable cravings of its tempestuous thoughts? Did Christ not exhort us to take captive our thoughts and lay them at HIS feet and trust in HIM to purify our outlaw souls? O, but alas, corruptible mind which so desperately strives for the pleasures of sin! For you are amiss! “No holiness, no purity, no truth, no righteousness,” is this not what YOUR mind cries out for? To find it you may turn and run all your life ducking, dodging, hiding, and scheming, but my friend, you will never find it until you have put on the incorruptible mind of Christ! Did Christ not tell us, “Walk in the Spirit and you will not fulfill the lust of the flesh?”
O wanton soul of self-satisfaction, O wretched soul of self-will, O wicked soul of self-gratification! He died for you, to enable you, to exchange the corruptible for the incorruptible! Do not allow the enemy of your soul to ravage and devour what so graciously and mercifully was given to you by Christ Jesus! Genuinely surrender all that you are, all that you say, all that you do, to the Sovereign One of the Universe, your Creator, your Sustainer, your Counselor, your Healer, your Deliverer, your Lover, your Friend! And my friend, then and only then will you not turn and run from, but you will turn and run to, the Almighty “Lord of lords” and “King of kings,” Jesus Christ YOUR Savior!!
