PRAY, AS JESUS PRAYED
Peggy Kannaday
Luke 11:1b, “Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught His disciples.
2 And He said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth.â€
Jesus Himself always prayed the perfect will of God. He always set Himself apart from others in order to pray and hear from His Father God, as to what He was to do daily. How much more should we, Christians do the same?
I notice more and more that Christians are very divided in their opinions. Because of that; it is very difficult to have any agreement among Christians when they pray. What is the solution to this problem?
It is in always praying as Jesus prayed. “Thy Kingdom come; Thy will be done†regarding all situations. Our Father always knows what is best.
There is exponential power in the prayers that are in agreement with other Christians. When a prayer is prayed, and many Christians agree with a heartfelf “Amenâ€; the prayer’s power is multiplied due to the agreement.
We, as mere mortals really do not know how to pray because we cannot see everything as almighty God sees. We are very limited in our understanding in comparison with our all-knowing God.
Every pray that I have ever prayed since becoming a Christian in 1972; has been answered properly when I gave the results over to The Lord completely. When I was willing to accept any answer, and I only wanted God’s will to be done; then the right answer always came to me.
Because I had released the situation over to The Lord; I then knew that it was The Lord’s will for that time and place, even if the answer was “noâ€. There have been many times when “I†wanted something so badly, but I was able to surrender it to the Lord, and later it worked out far better than what I had wanted originally.
When I was a young Christian; I had a burning desire to go to Israel. I prayed and prayed, but there was no leading to go at that time. At first, I was disappointed, but I finally was able to put it all on the shelf and not even think about it.
Many years later; I not only was able to go to Israel, but all my expenses were paid for me by my office, and I was able to go with them, and all arrangements were made by my office, and I had a glorious time. Because of many similar experiences like this; I have learned to give it all over to the Lord in prayer.
I also had an opposite situation where I tried to manipulate God, and I prayed very hard for a particular situation, and then I received what I prayed for, and it was a nightmare. Please be careful what you pray for and how you pray. Pray as Jesus prayed and you will always have God’s best.
Right before Jesus was horribly crucified; He prayed three times that if it was possible; the cup would pass from Him. He then prayed that God’s will be done. He was able to give up His desire, and He was able to win the awesome victory on the cross for all mankind because of it.
Matthew 26: 39b “O My Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from Me: nevertheless not as I will, but as Thou wilt.â€
Jesus Christ understood and trusted His Father God to that extent. He knew that no matter how difficult the whole process was going to be that if it was His Father’s will; He would get through it victoriously. Hallelujah, and the same is true for all of us.
God gave His only begotten Son to all mankind, and The Lord Jesus gave Himself as the living sacrifice in obedience to His Father. There was no other way or acceptable sacrifice for our sins.
The world system leaders, and the majority do not have wisdom from God. They rule the world through greed, selfishness, lusts, idolatry, rebellion and ignorance of knowing the real Truth.
1 Cor. 2:
7 “But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory: 8 Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.â€
The “religious†leaders and the Roman “princes†did not know what they were doing when they crucified Jesus. The carnal Christians and those in the world system have a lot of knowledge, but they have no wisdom, understanding nor the power to overcome this world.
Christians are divided on many subjects; not the least of which is who they should vote for in the 2012 election. This election is extremely crucial for the future of the church, as we have known it.
That is why, we need to pray in agreement for God’s perfect will to be done. God will honor our prayers when we pray according to His will.
The church needs to turn from what “we†want, and surrender all to the One Who knows the beginning from the end, and Who knows what is right and just for all. We are at a crucial point in our history, where we cannot continue leaning on our own understanding. We cannot continue to make serious mistakes.
Proverbs 3:5-7
5 “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
6 In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths.
7 Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil.â€
Now, is the time for the people of God to wake up, rise up and conquer our territories through prayer. We need to pray according to The Word and will of almighty God.
When we defer our own thoughts and desires over to The Lord Jesus Christ, then we can have a powerful unity and agreement in our prayers. We can overcome the adverse effects of the many doctrines and opinions of Christians, and we can agree with all that The Lord wants to ordain in the world.
Jesus Christ has been given all authority in the Church, The Body of Christ, by His Father, and we need to allow Him to take His rightful place as the Head of The Church.
We have been doing church our way for decades, and the results have been horrific. Let us let go of the reins, and let The Lord Jesus Christ lead and guide us, as He is our all-powerful, all-knowing and omnipresent God!
We need to go to Him, humble ourselves, pray according to “His†will; turn from our wicked ways, and then He has promised to hear from heaven, forgive us and to heal our land. Our country is desperately in need of healing.
God will honor our humility and our prayers that acquiesce to His authority, His judgement and His perfect will. God will honor our obedience, and He will heal our land. Hallelujah!
