See How He Loves Me
So David arose from the ground, washed and anointed himself and changed his clothes and went into the house of the LORD and worshipped.
2 Samuel 12: 20.
Is this not what God does with us? I just love the sequence of events. First, David arose from the ground. God raises us from the floor of sin and out of the pool of iniquity and plunges us into the fountain filled with blood drawn from Immanuel’s veins and wash away all the stain, filth and guilt of sin. Then He anoints us by the power of the Holy Spirit thus equipping us to function as His vessels so that we can go about doing well.
David also changed his clothes. The after, washing and anointing us, clothes us with clean, bright, spotless garments and He desires that every day we watch to ensure that the cloth remain without wrinkle until the day He comes to take us home. But while we still remain here, our preoccupation should be to seek to worship Him all the time for he desires those who would worship Him in truth and in spirit.
Many people have remained condemned all their lives because they sinned. In most cases the saints of God have not helped matters rather they make things worse by passing unpleasant comments.
However, if that is your case, then you need to know that Jesus loves you so much to allow you to remain in the deep ditch of depression over your past actions. He would rather you sin one hundred times and repent one hundred and one times than to sin once and not recover from the fall.
For sure our sins grieve His heart but what sets Him on a pedestal far above everyone else is His ability to go beyond the pain to remedy the situation.
He loves you and I enough to make Him go to the cross willingly suffering a shameful death but also to triumphantly rising again so we can have hope and approach His light for full restoration because the price has been paid in full, the deed has been done, the deal sealed!
So whoever you are, however grievous your sin, whatever your sin or its frequency, I want to ask you: do you know how much He loves you? Do you He’s waiting right now to restore you? Do you know that all the lies the devil has been drumming in your head need not to be there? Do you know that ever since the blood was shed it has never lost its power to cleanse?
He wants you to go through the process of rising up from the dirt of sin, then plunging into His blood for a wash, availing yourself to the Holy Spirit to anoint you to live free from the clutches of sin, changing your sin-stained garment and trading them for white, spotless ones and living a lifestyle of constant worship which by the way would be a dress rehearsal for what would occupy us for eternity in heaven.
The prodigal son was wise enough to pick himself off the pigsty, when the father saw him approaching, he ran to meet him. He then ordered fresh clothing to be given to him (of course he would washed before changing), then a celebration galore (or a moment of thanksgiving and worship) ensured. See the way the father of this wayward son received him? That is how He loves us.
And if He loves me this much, I rise up every time I fall away or falter and veered off the road and retrace my footsteps back to His house.
In His loving vineyard,
Babangida Joseph
