Poetry

Let the words I speak be carefully and wisely chosen,
Lest I say something to hurt or confuse someone.
Oh, I should taste them before they leave my mouth,
Else, they may sound so bitter and cause much harm.
Perhaps what I have to say is absolutely the truth,
Yet intended to ridicule or to bring someone shame.
If that is the case, I must understand the true purpose-
Is really that of spreading malicious and hurtful gossip.
If the meditation of my heart bears ill toward my neighbor,
Then the words of my mouth will surely follow suit,
Resulting in the displeasure of my Heavenly Father,
Who knows the thoughts of my heart and listens to what I say.
“Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength and my redeemer.” Psalm 19:14 KJV.

Lest I say something to hurt or confuse someone."
Hence the importance of putting our written pieces aside then look at it with a fresh pair of eyes. Editing and re-editing will catch some of those harsh words not intending to harm but does just that.
I dare say when we speak from the pulpit this is vitally important. I find that many of our fellow believers are left feeling dejected because words weren't spoken with a gentle tone.
Thanks for sharing this piece.
