I walked down to the river to spend some time
Lazily I leaned against the trunk of an old tree
Taking in scents peculiar to rivers and streams
Listening to the croaking of frogs I could not see
Swift currents of water, in a hurry for downstream
The sound of its rushing haste almost hypnotic
Its trance broken by the screaming of an eagle
Nothing about the scene before me was chaotic
Strolling along the grassy bank quite leisurely
My eyes caught a glimpse of a fleeting deer
From almost under my feet a rabbit darted away
And a pair of mallard ducks was swimming near
I watched as a wayward log drifted aimlessly by
Carried by the current, its destination unknown
Then turned my attention to the careful movement
Of a mother doe, carefully leading her little fawn
Looking again to the river, I watched a fisherman
As he reeled in, with expertise, a largemouth bass
Then I heard the eagle scream loudly once more
As it gracefully overhead made another pass
The river, the wildlife, the trees, the grass, all were
Imprinting on my mind a picture not soon to fade
The beauty of all I saw, the tranquility which I felt
Were all by the hands of my Heavenly Father made

You always paint such a clear and lovely picture with words.I could almost feel myself being there.Oh the wondrous htings given to us in nature and its sounds.
I love it when we can clearly see Heavens fingerprints. How very sad that too few do, when I think the everyday miracles of nature are some of this lifes Greatest Blessings. Thank you for your kind comments on my poetry, this piece paints a wonderful picture of our Awesome Father, blessings,Elizabeth.
There is nothing created that doesn't bare the mark of our Father and Creator. What a joy it is to get to know Him as we observe Him in nature and in the lives and hearts of those who love Him. Beautifully composed, Thomas!
