Which Season Are You?
Recently I was at a Christian fashion show and I was asked what season are you? Never having been asked this question I was instantly intrigued. After this question was asked they then went through a variety of questions and examples using models and different colors trying to find out what season I was. I then found out from the color of my hair, eyes, and complexion that I was “winter” and I was then told what colors would look best with my skin tone.
Now as I was asked according to the outward appearance what season I was, let us take a look on the inside and see what season we are.
When one thinks of spring they think of a happy, beautiful, light, airy time. I love it when the grass becomes green again after the snow of winter has left. It is just amazing to me to be able to see all the buds on the tree, the birds that begin to build their nests, and it just seems like everything is full of life and blooms.
Next is summer, depending on your location is how hot of a summer you are going to have to endure. Summer is a time of wonderful fun. This season is a time of relaxation and a much deserved break from the routine schedule. The children love their freedom from school. We have picnics, fireworks, barbeques, swimming pool parties, summer camps, sleepovers, vacations; summer is just packed with fun!
Fall is a time when one’s schedule begins to return normalcy. The leaves on the trees begin to turn magnificent colors. We have the fun yet scary time of Halloween. But possibly the greatest thing of this season is the time of Thanksgiving that we get to spend with our family, showing our thanks to a wonderful God who has given us so many wonderful things to enjoy.
When we look at nature during the winter season, it seems as if everything has lost its reason for living. The branches of the trees no longer desire to bear their leaves. The flowers have lost their buds and are bare. The green grass has turned to brown and sometimes is completely covered with snow and ice.
In most of our lives we actually get to experience all these seasons. We get to enjoy the wonders of spring where everything in our life is filled with joy and new growth then comes summer a wonderful time of relaxation, fun with family and friends. The fall season of our life is when we have grown a little older and actually realize how blessed we are to have parents who laid down the rules. The blessings of our country, family, friends, and homes just seem to overwhelm us. But too often it seems that in our lives we have to endure the season of winter. It seems like through these times everything we have worked for, dreamed about, hoped and prayed for is now dead. It seems like everywhere we turn and everything we try is just not working. We feel like we are being pruned and cut back. Everything that was going right is now going wrong. What we thought was perfect now seems to be full of imperfections. But my friends might I remind you that when this season is ruling in our hearts and lives that winter does not last forever…..spring always comes.
Psalms 30:5…….weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.
When you go through this most difficult and depressing season of life don’t lose hope. God is still on the throne! He is still in control of your life. Keep your eyes on the Lord and trust in Him. Your winter may last for a season but spring is just around the corner.
The reason we must go through difficulties in our lives, winter, is so we can more fully enjoy the other wonderful times, seasons, that God has planned for us.
Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
He has a purpose for all that you go through and He is working it all together for your good! Trust Him and keep moving forward, spring is coming!
