I am here to debate on the topic titled "Youths in christainity"To begin with I personally think the youth ministry can set the path for the whole church to follow because the youth ministry is the future of the church. For example I think a successful youth ministry will attract new families to attend the church and maintain current members. This point because I think there are a few interesting youth related events in the church which tend to attract younger people. One of the few events is the church youth choir.By allowing the youth to control the choir you are giving us freedom to express ourselves through the songs we choose to sing. The songs we sing might contain beats and rhythm the kind of quality of music we youths appreciate today. This tends to be more interesting.
In my opinion one of the important and necessary things in the youth ministry is assigning positions of responsibility to us.This gives us the urge to come to church because we get that feeling of importance, because we have something to do. For example being part of the youth choir might help us mingle with the other youths our age, race or the youths that attend school together with us. By doing this I think we can all relate and communicate easily with each other. Through this we gradually learn to build up a spiritually strong friendship with each other.
We set out time to practise these songs. In my opinion this shows dedication which is one of the first things we ought to have in order to contribute to church building and evangelism as youths. I think this is part of church building because we take our time to minister to the church through the songs we sing. The congregation listens to the lyrics of the song which allows us to think about Christianity, in my opinion resulting to church building. This allows us to communicate with the church. As we know communication is one of the most important things in a community in order for the community to reach its full potential and the church is like a community.
We might plan to have a day in the month where we can hold a service of songs in which we can invite friends from our schools, club and organisation to attend the service. In this light we the youths are evangelising through the music we sing. I think this action shows we have courage because we can do what we do in front of our friends without feeling embarrassed that we are serving God.
Another responsibility we also undertake is by dedicating our time without being necessarily forced to. By doing this I think we show we can be trusted to be responsible because we are consistent about it. We make it our no.1 priority in the church on Sunday mornings to be there. This I think shows church building because it’s not necessarily about the quantity of the church I think it’s just how spiritually everyone grows in the church which shows growth in Christianity.
We can increase the importance of what we do by coming to church a little earlier for just a youth meeting where we youths can go over what our responsibilities are in the church that Sunday. By doing this I think we are encouraged by each other just like what the scripture says in Hebrew 10:25 " Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing. But let us encourage one another and all the more as you see the day approaching” By carrying on this responsibility we contribute to church building. In my opinion this allows the new youth members to want to carry on the same duty and responsibility as we do. It’s also a great way to make friends and to relate with new youth members. This makes them feel welcome. This allows them to feel the urge and need to come to the church again. just as the bible verse says in proverb 14:4 " where there are no oxen the manager is empty but from strength of an oxen comes an abundant harvest" In my opinion this means that we have to work hard to increase the harvest of new members in a church and to achieve this I think all the different groups in the church should contribute to the growth of the church.
In my opinion the youth ministry is the most important in the church because we are the newer generation going into adulthood. So it is important for the youths to evangelise. By evangelising we youths talk to others about Christianity through our own points of views which I think makes it interesting. By doing this the youth might attract the subject to church. But in other for the subject to stay, there’s a role the pastor has to play. I think the pastor needs to preach in a simple and practical way this might attract the youths because the pastor can relate to them more in the way they would understand. I also think the pastor should also be approachable so that the youth can feel comfortable and less threatened by their way of life. I also think this allows new youth members to feel welcome and comfortable to share their feelings. This increases the level of church building in the youth department.
We can take this step further by setting aside a day in the month just for us youths to go out and evangelise on our own. These results to increase in confidence for us youths also by evangelising we are sure of what we are preaching which increases our sense of belief in Christ this in my opinion is church building individually.
We also evangelise through the way we act though we might not realise it. In this case we might be asked to do something we don’t feel comfortable with and by the answer we give we evangelise.
As youths I think our love for God always increases and part of that is the foundation of a great church to belong in this is due to couple of reasons
1. Being valued
2. Being trusted
3. Having that close relationship with our leaders.
As youths we still have a long way to go in Christianity. But it’s important for us to start now in order for us to grow up into strong and God fearing adults becoming leaders of the church.
Thank you for listening.
Thanks and God bless.
