Anyone who knows that they know that God loves them, has forgiven them, will never again be angry and punish them and will never let anything separate them from Him, would likely claim to be a “Child of God,” regardless of what others may say about that individual.
Romans 8:16 (Amplified) says, “The Spirit Himself [thus] testifies together with our own spirit, [assuring us] that we are children of God.” In other words, if you're a child of God, you know it in your knower, without a doubt, no convincing necessary.
That being said, I was especially proud when “We, the People of God” in my hometown of Stephenville, Texas, recently joined in prayer and protest against a one act play at the local university that depicted Jesus and His Disciples as being gay, complete with a crucifixion where the sign “King of Queers” was posted over his head.
A firestorm of eMail, Letters to the Editor, to the Drama Department, to the University President ensued. I received many calls, eMails and Facebook comments on this issue myself, and I even wrote a few of my own. Barbara and I even signed a petition. Many began praying while others threatened boycotts and made harassing, mean-spirited calls. (Yes, the nut-job stone-throwers will always be there, making the rest of us look bad and dissuading others from wanting anything to do with Jesus, the One who died for them; Satan's mission accomplished).
The libs played their predictable “homophobe” card, trying to make sexual orientation the issue (PLEASE!). Though that may have been true for some, for most, the play was seen as an insult to the One we all love; the Lord Jesus. For others, it was a taxpayer issue for this is a State-funded University and Texans want our money better spent.
It was great to hear the local ministerial alliance met with and even prayed for the University President. I received reports of local ministers wisely rallying their congregations against our REAL enemy, Satan, and not those for whom Jesus died, regardless of how their opinions may differ from those found in Scripture.
On Thursday, March 25, the school's President sent many concerned citizens, including myself, a copy of a letter he was sending to the local newspaper. In essence, the final decision by the school was that this was a Free Speech issue.
Case closed.
The show would go on as planned.
Low and behold, the very next day, a Press Release was issued stating the play had been canceled, citing safety and security concerns. (READ IT HERE) http://www.tarleton.edu/documents/MediaRelease-PlayCanceled.pdf
Huh?
Just like that?
The paint wasn't even dry on some people's picket signs!
I got nearly 40 eMails that day from people reporting that the play had been canceled. One message even screamed, “This feels like Christmas!”
All I can say is: Prayer Works Wonders!
PRAYER, PRAYER EVERYWHERE!
I saw this article today, Sunday, March 28th: Twenty-five children in Thailand saw the power of praying and trusting in God at work. On March 19, the Vision Beyond Borders Children's Home of Thailand learned of forest fires burning nearby and heading right for the orphanage. The center had just finished building new dorms, a kitchen, canteen, church and bathrooms.
The workers sent out urgent prayer requests by e-mail and then moved the children to the top of a hill for safety. At the top of the hill, a staff member encouraged the kids to start worshipping and praying to God. Though Thailand is in the midst of their dry season, they trusted God to send rain.
The fires quickly approached, but just before the orphanage was surrounded, they heard thunder. Less than an hour later it began sprinkling, then pouring, until the fires were extinguished.
In contrast, a national ministry that organizes prayer for President Obama says it's hearing from members who have opted to quit praying for him. Unimaginable Can they not see the potential of anyone who repents and serves the Lord?
An apostle Paul.
A Michael Tummillo.
Any heathen Hell-raiser who turns from his wicked ways to serve King Jesus.
The Chairman of the Presidential Prayer Team has issued an urgent appeal for funds. His letter said the ministry has been "hit hard because some of our members are deeply distraught with our country's leaders." He writes that members "tell us that they are discouraged, disappointed, and some have admitted they have stopped praying for the president and our nation."
So, they opted to quit praying? Absurd! What could they possibly be planning to do instead? Perhaps they've forgotten these verses:
Galatians 6:9: “Let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.”
1 Thessalonians 5:17-18 tells us to “Pray without ceasing; give thanks at all times.”
James 5:16 says, “The effectual, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.”
Prayer is needed more than ever with issues like the healthcare vote dividing Americans, among many other issues.
In Nehemiah 4:14, the prophet reminds us all: “Don’t be afraid of the enemy! Remember the Lord, who is great and glorious, and fight for your brothers, your sons, your daughters, your wives, and your homes!”
Let us bear in mind that OUR mutual enemy is NOT any human being. Ephesians 6:12 tells us exactly WHO we are fighting: “...we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.”
There are no NATURAL answers for these SPIRITUAL issues.
BE ANXIOUS FOR NOTHING...
Philippians 4:6 encourages us to “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God...”
We don't need to get anxious about the state of these United States. If things are going in a potentially negative direction, “We, the people of God” have possess ALL the Power required to turn society upside down. So often have I called upon God for help when I've felt the Holy Spirit whisper, “Michael, YOU do it!”
Consider these “In Him” verses:
“In Him we live and move and have our being.” (Acts 17:28)
“He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world (satan).” (1 Jn 4:4)
“Christ in you, the hope of glory.” (Colossians 1:27)
“By this we know that we abide in Him, and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit.” (1 Jn 4:13)
“For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; and you are complete in Him, who is the Head of all principality and power. (Colossians 2:9-10)
HOW THE WEST WILL BE ONE
Unity and Prayer are the primary ingredients needed for winning the war in the West right now. Setting aside everything but the ONE THING we have in common, that is, our mutual love for our King Jesus, we must join forces against our common enemy, lifting high the banner that is the cause of Christ, taking back, by spiritual force, all that the enemy has stolen from us.
Napoleon said, “The object of war is victory, the object of victory is occupation and the object of occupation is transformation.” When the early Saints recognized the similarity between themselves and their Roman rulers, conquerors who never wiped out those they conquered, choosing instead to assimilate them into the Roman ways, they adopted the Greek word “ekklesia” - to define who they were, i.e., those who'd been “called out” to assimilate the world in which they were born in an effort to introduce them to King Jesus and His Kingdom.
The mission of The Church today – the Ekklesia – is no different.
Do you want to see your community transformed? Your city needs to see YOU transformed first. Check that... WE, the People of God... must prove that WE have been transformed.
May it be said of all of us in ALL our communities, colleges and workplaces as it was of the early Church in Acts 17:6, “These who have turned the world upside down have come here, too...” followed by a thankful sigh, “FINALLY!”
