Christian Living
When looking at Galatians 5:19-21, we see the works of the flesh. It is stated that those who do these things SHALL NOT enter the Kingdom of Heaven. If this is the case (and it most certainly is) who will go to heaven? Not very many of us because we are all guilty of sin; even after we are (or think we are) saved.
If you are a Sunday Morning Christian, then you are one who lives two lives. You live a life in the gray area; doing things that maybe are not so bad, but certainly things that you would not do or say in front of your fellow church mates. You may think you are doing the best you can and you are not as bad as some out there; so in the end God will overlook your actions and let you in heaven anyway. This would make God a hypocrite and He would not be God at all. He cannot be around sin, so He cannot let a sinner into His heavenly home.
I am not talking about an occasional sin or slip-up in a Christian’s life; I am talking about a life-style of living for yourself and thinking that because you took part in an altar call or said a few words to a preacher, you have a “get-out-of-jail-free” card. Salvation is not about saying a few words of confession or asking the Savior into your heart without you committing to Him. It is a change in your lifestyle, a commitment to the God who died for you; it is about putting Him and His commandments first in your life. Everything else is second to serving Him; your spouse, your children, your siblings, your bank account, and especially you.
It is one thing to backslide and fall into sin and another thing altogether to be comfortable with your sin. If you are a Christian, sin will bother you and the Lord will chastise you; you will not want to stay in sin very long because you are miserable and scared. If you are not miserable and scared in your sin, you are more than likely NOT a child of God and are on your way to a Christ-less eternity. If you are merely going to church on Sunday for social reasons and are a little bored with the singing or the sermon or you have no desire to read and study God’s Word; you are lying to yourself and others about being a Christian.
Scroll down to verses 22-26 in Galatians 5 and see the fruits of the Spirit. This whole chapter was not put in the Bible for nothing; God wants you to see which category you are in. If you are living in the flesh and are showing no fruits of the Spirit, you need to reassess your salvation and come to the Lord in repentance and confession because you are still lost. Life is too short to make a mistake about whether you are saved or not saved; once you die, there is no changing your mind; it will be too late for you and you will be forever separated from God.
Being a Sunday Morning Christian is not helping you or your family, it is not helping your friends, nor is it helping the church you attend. You are just another pretender who is putting his and his family’s salvation in danger. Think about it, if you are pretending to be a Christian, either your spouse & children will follow you in the pretend game or they will turn their backs on God altogether because they see you as a hypocrite. The situation will not end well, and in the end you are responsible for your salvation and the fruit you are producing. If your children look to you and see a hypocrite, they will not accept salvation nor will they be a good example to their children, thus several generations may fall into hell because of your actions.
Be a Christian every day and in every way, not just on Sunday when you put on your mask; you will never regret the choice of repenting and committing your life to Jesus Christ, it has eternal consequences for you and everyone that you influence during your lifetime on earth.
