Encouragement
One Step at a Time
Someone once said that if you’re not satisfied with your life right now, something is got to change!
If you keep on doing the same things you have always done, you will have the same life you have now.
Most of us are familiar with the saying , “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result.” At one point, I even posted that in my bulletin board but just looking at it didn’t do me any good. I know well what insanity means.
Just for the heck of it, please underline the emotion which best fits your life now. Are you bored, depressed, feeling sick, unloved? Or are you happy, content, accepted and loved? After you underlined how you feel, were you being honest with yourself or not?
I have to admit with all sincerity that I am not satisfied with my health as of this writing. My blood pressure and cholesterol readings are back up, thanks to snacks of junk foods and coffee with hazel nut cream any time of the day. When was the last time I made serious trip to the gym? Was that a couple of years ago?
I am not that dumb to know that no one can give me a better health but me. I can read all kinds of health magazines and diet books, I can own many exercise videos and dream of a petite size body and a perfect health, but I need to make eating right and exercising consistently a lifestyle, if I want to see a transformation.
I don’t know about you, but I also want to conquer my fears. Fear of rejection, fear of taking risks, even fear of social interaction, which all go hand in hand. I believe that fear is the opposite of faith. “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of sound mind.” -2 Timothy 1:7
Procrastination is also top on my list of bad habits. What I realize now is the more I keep putting off doing something, the more I feel the stress crawling on my nerves. Stress can cause disease, according to studies. Dis-ease means we are not at ease.
I believe that God wants us to take care of our body because it’s the temple of the Holy Spirit in us. And that goes with our mind, spirit and emotion too.
Isn’t it funny how we know the right thing to do and not do it? No, it’s not funny!
Transformation doesn’t happen overnight, and for me, it’s a slow process. I know I have a long way to go, but I also have come a long way, one step at a time. The most important thing is no matter how long it takes, I will never give up. I will never quit. I will keep pressing on.
When we seriously commit ourselves to Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, God begins changing us from the inside out. For apart from God, we can do nothing.
May we all pray for each other that we will always take God’s hand in our journey to a better life from the inside out.

Come on, Gloria, you've given us all a lot of good advice, and I know you have taken a lot of that advice too, since writing this article. But how about giving us more good advice? How about treating yourself and us with something rewarding--funny--silly, anything that will uplift your spirits? Just follow your own advice and "keep on keeping on." There are lots of people who love you, here in FaithWriter Land...I feel the way you do lots of times too. Right now is one of them. That's why I am trying to encourage you...Helen

We are more than conquerers. You have expressed how many of us feel right now, overwhelmed, stressed. God is able and will help us one step at a time. I'm with you and making some changing, first in my thinking and then in my behavior. Here we go!
Gloria, I love your transparency. (Have you heard that often enough? *Smile*) The fact that you see what needs to be changed is better than most people. You'll get there. You are loved exactly as your are by so many people. One day at at a time, my friend. I'm right there with you. Hugs.
