Read: John Ch. 3
as oil during wartime, but
Instead often broken
like mishandled crystal glass.
Obedience is as crucial
as sight while driving,
but our will unpredictable
like a tornado's path.
However no need to tremble.
God’s love is as fluent as
a waterfall. Like a Father
He reaches for our hand.
God’s Promises are as binding
as His Book. Heaven came once,
and Heaven will come again–
as Jesus the Son of Man.
Soon the Great Revelation
will be fulfilled, and
in a wink we will be singing
the Song of the Lamb.
Jesus is coming. Let’s fill
our lamps with oil,
and prepare ourselves for
the walk down the Bridal path.
I think about the times I didn't show up to an appointment, or I quit college, or I didn't follow through on a writing project.
I also remember of all the times I bailed out on my friends when they needed a listening ear. Furthermore, I recall all the times I displeased God with my tongue, or with my secret sins of lust, bitterness, greed, and laziness.
I also reflect on times I didn't pray for someone when I knew I should, didn't spend enough time studying God's word, or I dated someone I knew God didn't think was right for me.
A majority of the bad choices I confessed to above are sometimes made when I feel the most vulnerable to temptation--when I'm feeling lonely, depressed, tired, hungry, angry, anxious, or insecure. I also may feel the pain of loss or rejection during these times.
Nevertheless, It still makes me ashamed when I think about it, after all Christ has done for me. So now what? I decided it's time to do something about it--to go back to John 3:16.
After rereading this (I realize this may not be new to everybody.), and meditating on it for awhile, I now understand why this verse is one of the most often quoted from the Bible.
John 3:16 is recited, memorized, and preached almost everywhere because this is God's Promise that Jesus prophesied before his death and resurrection! Also, the fact that Jesus was speaking to a real live individual named Nicodemous stood out to me.
In other words, this verse is longer an overused Sunday School memory verse, it's about Jesus Himself ministering to us personally, because He wants each one of us to know and understand why He came to this earth.
I encourage those reading this to meditate on John 3:16 (NIV version) right now:
"For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."
Also, I recommend studying all of John Chapter 3, with this verse in context.
I hope everyone, whether saved or not, will have just experienced the verse quoted above (or should I say from Above--Heaven?) in a new way, as a direct promise from God. This promise is in two parts.
First, God promised in this verse that He would send Jesus to save us from our sins, which has already been fullfilled. Then, He promised that Jesus would return for those of us who know Him personally, and for those of us who live pure lives, and are committed to Him.
I thank God for this promise. I hope that all who read this are encouraged, and below is a prayer for anyone, regardless of level of faith to pray:
Dear Father in Heaven,
Help us to not forget your promise of salvation, and help us to remember that your Son Jesus is real, He is alive, and He is with us today, speaking to us like He did to Nicodemous and others. Help us to know how important it is to receive your son Jesus if we haven't done so already. Father in Jesus' name forgive us of our sins, and accept us (as I know now that you will) as part of your family, and help us to share this promise with others in Jesus' name we pray, amen.
Love,
Your BRIDE/Church(God's family)
P.S. We look forward to meeting you face to face very soon!

ps... when this is no longer a work in progress, you might want to make sure that scripter = scripture. :) Honestly, I hate editing for someone publicly, so I'm glad this is just a w.i.p. and that you'll delete it... along with my comments. I'll watch for a repost so that I can give it a better critique.
