Devotionals
I was really encouraged last week hearing the recorded message of Billy Graham which was based on the 'Cost of discipleship'.
Mr. Graham insisted that God demands all of us and would not be satisfied by only a part of us.
Thus if we need to be dedicated to Christ it has to be 100% and nothing less is acceptable.
Jesus laid down this condition for all those who desired to follow Him.....
'Then He said to them all, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.'
Luke 9:23 (NKJV)
Why does God demand all? why is He not satisfied by a little or half or might be a little more of our devotion? why does He insist on the full?
Probably because He Himself gave His all for us. He did not withheld anything from us, He gave His all,
even His own life on the cross for us and thus He demands the same love from us..100%.
God is perfect in all His ways and always keeps His promises and thus He also desires to see all His conditions being fulfilled.
It grieves the Lord a lot when He sees us reserving a part of our life for sin, or using the precious resources of our time and money to satisfy the devil's desire of sin.
God is grieved when He sees us using our God given body for acts that are sinful and do not bring glory to God.
Probably God has the right to be grievous, because He is the one Who gave us all we need and have,
the devil never gives us anything except for lies and deception and craftily encourages us to give a part or whole of us to sin.
Thank God for His grace today with which He gives us a chance to understand our sinful state and come back to Him,
however there will surely be a day of judgement in which God will measure our committment to Him.
Paul encourages us with this blessed instruction......
'I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.'
Romans 12:1 (NKJV)
Are you committed 100% to the Lord? If not, you have to...for God demands it...nothing less but 100%.
