We all have only one destiny, and that comes from God. In our walk with the Lord, we must uncover our destiny in Him, so that we will not squander the things and the ways of the Lord. We must be careful to be good steward of our time and resources, so that we will use whatever that He has given to us to fulfill the potential that He has for us. As we use our spiritual giftings to serve Him, we will uncover our destiny, as we yield and are sensitive to the Holy Spirit’s leading in our lives.
The destiny of God leads us to want to be in His perfect will all the time. It is only when we are in the perfect will of God that we can fulfill our destiny. Many times we drift through life because we do what we want to do, with our job and talent, without being sensitive as to what God wants us to do. We end up disappointed and some gave up their faith because they find walking with the Lord hard. We can only find walking with the Lord hard if we are out of His will. In God’s perfect will, there can be no struggles.
Sometimes while we try to walk in God’s perfect will, we will encounter obstacles along our way that will hinder us from walking in our destiny. Obedience is the key to help us fulfill our destiny. Many times we choose to do things our own way rather than the ways of God. We fight against God by our own reasoning and understanding, and we missed Him because we failed to do things His way. As we continue to walk in disobedience, we will find ourselves completely out of God’s will. When we are out of God’s will, life can be very painful.
How then can we walk in the perfect will of the Father? First, we must surrender our all to Him. We must said, not my will, Lord, but yours. We must be willing to die to ourselves so that we can be resurrected in Him. It is through dying to self that we find God at the end of our ropes. Lk 9:23 says that if we want to follow Jesus, we must deny ourselves, take up our cross daily and follow Him. This is the first step of obedience.
When we have yielded our ways to the Lord, secondly, we want to discover our talent in Him by flowing with the Spirit of God as He guides and directs us as to what He wants to accomplice in our lives. As we flow in sensitivity, the key to follow Him is to abide in Him. Jn 15:4 admonishes us to abide in Him so that we can bear much fruits. Without which, we can accomplish nothing.
It is not the planning and wisdom that we have from ourselves that allow us to do well in areas of our life. It is through prayer and fasting, seeking His face in what He wants to accomplish in our ministry that we bear much fruits. Spending time with God and seeking Him daily should be our top priority before the start of the day. We want to commit our time and our ways to Him, so that we can be guided by the Spirit of God and do all that He wants us to do. It is through prayer and committing our ways before Him that we can be in His perfect will all the time.
Spending our daily time in prayer is one of the keys that we want to cultivate on a consistent basis. It is only through prayer that we discover our ways with the Lord. He will show us our sins or any other areas in our lives that are not pleasing to Him. He will cleanse and purge us if we cry out to Him in desperation because of our conditions. We will receive forgiveness if we confess our sins to our Lord daily.
Getting into the Word on a daily basis is also key in walking closely with our Lord. Through God’s Word He can direct and guide us in all our ways as we seek Him for His direction and purpose for us. God usually speaks to us through His Word and He can give us understanding as we dip into the Word daily and ask Him for understanding while reading and studying it. Studying God’s Word is the yardstick to measure our spirituality, as it is with the Word of God that we grow in our Christian walk.
We want to be found walking with Him in every areas of our life, so that He can accomplish all that He has for us. It takes our will to follow His will, and it takes obedience to do all that He commanded us to do. Will you walk with the Lord that you know you are walking in His destiny and that you will walk in God’s ways to fulfill that destiny? It is possible to walk in our destiny if we give our all to Him and follow the steps above.
He will take us by our hands and lead us if only we will allow Him. He calls us to walk with Him and in Him and may we be found to be doing so.
