How to Recognise a Vanity Publisher

Excellent article by Narelle Atkins. For those of us who have been in the business for a while, the signs are like red flags, that are on fire, with horns blaring. However, for newer writers, the lure of these companies is very strong. This is an excellent reference:

For some people, a subsidy (or vanity) publisher is an option because they know they won't find a traditional publisher and they don't want to do all the work themselves. This is mainly for people with a small ministry where they can use the books to promote their cause. Even then, not every vanity press is the same. So as we say, forewarned is forearmed.
