I am wondering the same thing. I just received an email from him also regarding article writing.

I too got an email through my messeger service..Offering $500 a week for two three page articles. Sounds like he is foreign speaking as his English is very bad. I answered his original with questions about himself which he didn't answer, except to say that his late parents sent articles to orphanages to encourage them,. He is offering to send a payment up front in good faith, based on my promise to send him some articles.. either on subjects he specifies or ones that he would approve. .he only asked for an address to send it to...no personal or financial information.
But I have to say, it has the ring of one one of those Nigerian scams.
Maybe ask a few more questions...
