Nonny, exclamation points are FINE in dialogue.

I'm a big fan of dashes, so you won't find me railing against them.

I wish I'd taken French--or any foreign language--in high school.

Stay tuned for the next mini-lesson!

What did you say? Wahlah? Walla? Waa laa?
Well now.. me, being me, I would say neither. I would have said, "Boo!"

Then too I ain't married, and have no need to dress up when I go out to eat. Chances are it is to the deli across the street.

OH gee... I'm coming in late here, but, uh... I don't think I even realized voila and "Wahla" were one and the same... I'm quite sure I've always thought "voila" was pronounced closer to "Viola!"  Wow. I feel dumb now. lol I don't have an excuse, either. I mean, my mom took French in high school, and I took like... 6 weeks worth of French in 7th grade. lol I like to think I can kind of figure these types of things out. But I guess not. lol

Hi Jan,

Don't think I've ever used the word voila but it's pretty cool. My two favorite French words (phrases) Pièce de résistance and crème de la crème which I always have to google for the spelling. Actually, I've only used the first one once...in a skit and the actor couldn't pronounce it so he used the second.

I was pretty much a failure in 9th grade French. (too many Bonezure Madamwazzles!)

"Viola!" is our (me & Brads) 'private-language' word for "Voila!" (or Wahllah!) You know, those things you say that only that one other person knows what you mean? And everyone else looks at you like, "Huh? Duh."?

Allison, good for you for admitting that you've gotten it wrong in the past. My work here has not been in vain.

Connie, your "Madamwazzles" cracked me up, and Cat, your "viola" cracked me up again! What a nice way to start my afternoon!
