Hi Challengeers.

As part of our desire to help you hone your critiquing skills when leaving feedback on entries, as well as when working as part of a Challenge Buddy group, we're more than happy to make the rating worksheet available.

To use the worksheet, you will need to have either Excel or Open Office on your computer. (Please let me know if you want the Excel or Open Office format.) If you don't, then just prepare your own sheet to fill in manually (you simply a sheet with space to write the titles of the entries you are reading, and then eight columns for each of the eight rating categories).

Each entry is rated on a 0.0 to 5.0 scale, and it can be helpful to label the ratings like this:

0.0 to 1.9 - Poor: Rated at the lowest end of the scale and was considered exceptionally weak (very rare, except for the topic category if completely off topic.)

2.0 to 2.4 - Below Average: Rated below the middle of the field of entries and was considered weak.

2.5 to 2.9 - Average: Not particularly strong or weak. Fairly ordinary.

3.0 to 3.4 - Above Average: Although not outstanding, it was considered a little better than average.

3.5 to 3.9 - Good: Solid piece of writing.

4.0 to 4.5 - Very Good: Really strong piece of writing.

4.6 - 4.9 - Excellent: Outstanding piece of writing (just short of perfection).

5.0 PERFECT This rating is used sparingly.

If you keep this scale in mind when reading each entry (whether as part of a pre-submission Buddy group or later when commenting), it will help you to pinpoint the strengths and weaknesses as you work through each of the ratings categories.

So if you have Excel or Open Office and would like a copy of the Rating Worksheet, please send me a private message or leave a request by posting a reply below. (And again, please mention whether you need Excel or Open Office format.)

In His love,

Deb
