Jan, can you ever have "is" as the last word in a sentence?
Thanks,
Lillian

Absolutely!
[looking at a strange object] I have no idea what that thing is.
I don't believe I've ever seen a grammar rule against ending a sentence with 'is', in fact.
Do you know where the nearest post office is?
Home is where the heart is.
In fact, there's a framed hanging on the wall in my office that says
It is what it is.

Of course, Jan. 'Home is where the heart is' is a very familiar phrase and so is your sign. For some reason, I just thought they were gramatically suspect. Now I know better.☺
Thanks,
Lillian
