I have a love affair with words. I write, even when I think I can't. I'm hooked on words!

Well, it could be either.

If you're talking about part of a clock, it's second hand.

If you're talking about a hand-me-down, it's secondhand.

Thanks, Jan.

I was talking about receiving news "secondhand." Would that fit the second definition?

Duh! After I posted the second time, I realized it couldn't be linked to the first answer. Thanks for answering the obvious, Jan.
