Soren2007, I'm in complete agreement with you. I'm glad I'm done with it and didn't keep a copy of what I'd submitted. If I had I'd be toiling over it everyday thinking of what I 'should have said' or 'should have remembered.' I'm sooo glad I'm done with it. I had no idea of the 500 word limit at f...

Thanks for the thank you! :D And you're very welcome. Personally, I wouldn't add anything about the reader. I would stick to the basics of the story itself. If you'd like, and if it's not against the rules, I can email you the synopsis I submitted for the Page Turner Contest. :?: :?: Maybe Deb will ...

Sheesh...!
Nope...must be just you! :P :P :P

Hey - why not write it in rhyme? That might come easier for you. :D

When you submit a synopsis to an editor, they usually want a full-blown account of your story - all the major plot points, character quirks and traits (as long as they're important to the storyline), character development and growth, the climax of the story, and even the ending. Editors do not like ...

Thanks everyone. As for a certain naughty contender ...  :P Love, Deb I have an idea... I'll save the chocolate for the conference. If I win, all of you judges who are there will get a little extra surprise! And, Julie, you will be off your fast by then! Shhh. Don't tell Deb I w...

So does that mean I can start sending out the chocolate on Wednesday? If I overnight it, it will arrive just in time for judging.

Kidding aside, I acted as judge last year when I didn't have any of my entries in the running for BoB (sniff...sniff...). It was so much fun because every entry was wonderful - truly enjoyable reading! The hard part was that because they were all so good, it was difficult to pick the winner. This is...

Deb,

The only box in which we can copy and paste is the Synopsis box and that has a maximum of 500 words.

The submission box says "upload your entry here" and has a browse button for searching for the file to attach.

I understand what you are saying, Christine. My novel is being written in Word and is manuscript formatted, with double spacing and indented paragraphs. When entering the contest, am I to change formatting to the same way I do for the challenges? Single spaced with double spaces between paragraphs? ...

I guess you have to try make a man want to read about moms, Lynda. And the men have to try and make women like war. :P I don't like either. :P  I think other contests use just a few judges also for all genres don' t they? What about armies of nothing but mothers fighting over clearan...

That is definitely the problem of many books, Christine. Being able to jump into the story and yet not confuse and lose the reader is key. I love stories that start in the middle of the action. I am a huge fan of dialogue - no dialogue (with lots of explaining - the setting, background, etc) is like...
