Re: Be a Better Writer--PUNCTUATING DIALOGUE

Wow, I really appreciate this one. I am always getting this wrong.

This is a really good lesson! she said.

This is a terrific topic, she said.

Isn't this a great writing lesson? she asked.

How'd I do?

Re: Be a Better Writer--GIVING AND RECEIVING CRITIQUE

I agree with Verna. I am still learning myself, but I have seen some bad advice given to some writers on reviews. Not a lot, mind you, but some. If I enjoy an article, I tell the reader. If there are some obvious spelling and grammar, I will point them out, but I do not go beyond my scope of knowled...

Re: Be A Better Writer--THE MAGIC ENDING

Thank you for all you do for us here, and I appreciate your lessons. I know it is a lot of trouble, so if you don't have time and believe me, I know how precious time is, I will get myself together and read these great teachings over and over. You have helped me tremendously. I have always been so f...

Re: Be A Better Writer--THE MAGIC ENDING

Jan, for the old minds like me, could you somehow post a brief synopsis on great beginnings, middles, and endings? Just the basics of how to begin, fill in, and end a typical good story. If you could put it all together because I have trouble remembering it all. I want to write a good story, and I'm...

Re: Be a Better Writer--CREATIVITY

Lillian if you can get to "uninstall a program" from your start menu, check all the programs that show they were installed on the date you first started noticing them. Left click on that program and then right click and click on "uninstall". That's what I did and the blue lines w...

I love Verna's devotional. So real and touched the heart and soul. "You always love me" is the thing faith is made of.

Blessings!

Re: Be a Better Writer--Devotionals

For His Glory Although my faith in a God that has saved my life, as well as my soul, is strong, there are times when evil attempts to invade my serenity and peace. It speaks in a loud and sometimes urgent voice that I have sinned so much in the past that no deity alive could forgive me. It twists my...

Re: Be a Better Writer--Devotionals

I have to say this. Sheldon's devotionals are the ones that stay in my mind the most, as he writes without preaching and I can feel God working through his words. Same goes for Lillian. Her words are like God's voice speaking to me. Now back to me. I write what God puts on my mind, only I know I nee...
