Re: 2014 Page Turner Entry Tally

There were 18 entries last year on October 17th. I wonder how many entries there'll be this year. :D

The feedback that I received last year was incredibly helpful. This is an awesome opportunity, platinum members!

Re: Pacific Coast Rest-Stop

So I have BIG news! My Best friend got engaged last weekend! She asked me to be her Maid of Honor and her sister is going to be her Matron of Honor. That's awesome that you will be the Maid of Honor for your best friend!!! I'm sorry things have been so tough lately, though. Wheelygirl, these folks ...

Re: Pacific Coast Rest-Stop

Rachel, how are you doing on your MS? The first bit I read was so good, I can't wait to read more. Awww, thanks for the encouragement, Shann! I'm submitting the first chapter of one of my books to see if I can enroll in the Craftsman course through Christian Writers Guild. If I get accepted then I'...

Re: Be a Better Writer--WRITING IN DIFFERENT TENSES

Last year, I wrote the rough draft of a novel. I started the book in 3rd person past tense, but when I got stuck about halfway through the manuscript, I decided to switch to 1st person past tense. I'm ready to go back and rewrite the novel, but I'm not sure which POV to go with. My gut says to go wi...

What great advice! I can immediately see that removing those words makes the sentence more powerful. Thanks, Jan!

Re: Be a Better Writer--USING IMAGERY

What a fun thread! It's great to see the friendly debate between writer and editor! :D Here's a little piece that I wrote for a writing course that I took last year. It's probably overkill, since I had to write from all five senses about a quick walk outside. It was a great exercise, though. ~~~~ Th...

Re: Pacific Coast Rest-Stop

Hi, Barb. I'm glad to hear that the new job is going well!

Happy belated birthday, Shann! It's my twins' birthday today. They're 10. :)

Hi, Lauren! I don't think we've met before. I'm the crazy girl with six kids way up in Canada. :D

Re: Pacific Coast Rest-Stop

Are you, Rachel and Toni, still working together? I haven't seen you on lately. I keep in touch with Toni by email, but we haven't been entering the challenge for a while. Toni is working really hard on building up her social media platform since that's important to publishers. I'm working my way t...

Re: Pacific Coast Rest-Stop

That study does sound pretty cool, deejay. You made me hungry describing all the food. :D I know a lot of people can't stand hospital food, but I think it is indescribably awesome for someone to prepare food for me and bring it to me on a platter.

I'm praying that you get the job, Shann!

Re: Be a Better Writer--MEMOIR AND 1ST PERSON NARRATIVE

I'm not sure if this would count as a memoir--now that I've written it out and edited it down to 150 words! :D It's focusing on two separate incidents, but they are linked by chocolate. There wasn't any room for dialogue, but I tried to keep in mind the other points. ~~~~~~ Chocolate calls to...

Re: Pacific Coast Rest-Stop

Can someone please tell me how it got to be September already? Yesterday it was just 1983 and I was graduation gift from high school and now all the little ones are heading off to school again. Do you think if we didn't have school, time would slow down? Hmmm, I think in 1983 I was making...
