When Jesus washed my sins away;
He taught me how to watch and pray,
And live REJOICING every day;
Happy Day! Happy Day1
When Jesus washed my sins away."
R is for Righteousness- (Ps 5:11) The Lord "will bless the righteous with
favour." His Reign and His Rulership over His kingdom will bless all those who call on His holy Name. We Rejoice that He came to wash our sins away and that if we confess our sins he will forgive us our iniquities. His Resurrection was a time of Rejoicing for all those who were grieved at His death and for us who stand to benefit from the Holy Spirit that he has bequeathed to us as our counsellor.
E is for Excellence - (Heb.1:4) "Being made so much better than the angels,
as he hath by inheritance obtained a more Excellent name than they." Christ by his conduct displayed Excellence in all that He did and left a great Example for us to follow. Paul, the apostle, tells us in 1 Corinthians l2:31 that if we seek the best gifts He will show us a still more Excellent way.
J is for Jesus - and the Joy He brings into our lives when we obey his Word.
(1 Peter 15: 11) "These things I have spoken to you, that my Joy be in you, and that your Joy may be full." Joy follows love, the first fruit of the spirit, and Jesus is love. Our lives have greater meaning when we express love in our everyday lives to others, especially to those who are not so fortunate to have this beautiful gift bestowed on them in their everyday lives.
O is for Obedience - to God and to His commandments. (Phil. 2:8) "he humbled
himself And became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross." His Word is truth And we should worship Him in spirit and in truth. If we Obey Him, we would find our lives being less complicated and our paths easier to follow.
I is for Integrity - (Pro.11:3) "The Integrity of the upright guides them."
The psalm-ist pleads "May integrity and uprightness preserve me." (Ps.25:21) These two qualities are necessary for entry into God's kingdom and we need them to live a Christian life.
C is for Christ, whose second Coming, we are all awaiting. He said "Come
unto me all you who have laboured and are heavy laden and I will give you rest." Our weary souls need not be troubled or burdened with sorrow, we have a Saviour to take all our burdens from us .
I is for Immanuel - (Emmanuel) meaning in Hebrew "God is with us", used by
Isaiah (7:14; 8:8) in foretelling the birth of the Messiah. We celebrate His birth every Christmas to express the feeling of Joy we feel at this wonderful and miraculous event. "And His name shall be called Wonderful Counsellor, the Almighty God, the Everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace, for unto us a child is born, a
son is given." Such a beautiful gift wrapped up in mystery has not been known since.
N is for the Name of God, the most High, the most Excellent, who gave us New beginnings. "If anyone is in Christ, he is a New creation. The old has passed away, all things have become New." Our New Year resolutions should include a promise to abide by our Saviour's laws and should be faithfully kept.
G is for God, "His Goodness and His mercy shall follow me all the days of my life and I shall dwell in His house forever". His power and His Glory evermore proclaim. Thank you Lord! Thank you Jesus!. I praise your holy name triumphantly R E J O I C I N G!
