Actually I failed them quite badly. Prior to
graduation they told me I needed a miracle from
God to graduate. In most of my classes, my GPA
was so low I needed to ace the exams to bring
it up to an average of seventy. The big day came
and I was resigned to being a senior again. To
my surprise I passed all of my exams and managed
to graduate. I lived in denial for a few years.
What I didn't know then is the real exams were
yet to come. One day my faith in God would be
tested. Tested in a way that would take me down
a path of what appeared to be destruction. The
exams I kept finding myself taking were along
the line of being willing to give up that which
I had held on to. Basically all my life was built
on was a lie.
As Christians, our faith in God is tested in similar
ways. As with the story where God rained down fish
and instructed the people to only gather what they
needed for the day. God has to test our faithfulness
to him with smaller tests in our spiritual walks.
God may not call on us to walk on water however, he
may just call on us to obey him. God just might want
to know where we stand or what we will do when faced
with a choice or an instruction.
God works through specifics. Everything must be exactly
as He says and for good reason. God knows that with most
things we will mess up if trusted with a task. Most tests
are related to what God will call us do. For instance if
God wants us to be missionaries, He may call us to reach
out to the needy. He may call us to start a ministry in
order to prepare us for what we will do. God will never
lead us on wild goose chases or call us to do something for
the fun of it.
We never know when God will dial our number. When He
does we will be ready. We might not know it or we might
fight it regardless, God will call us all to the final
exam. We just need to pay attention during class and
take notes. For failing may just mean the loss of souls.
When God gives final exams, He goes all the way.
