Don’t be surprised. You’re not the first, nor the last to be taken aback by my striking beauty.
It is nothing to be embarrassed about. I’ve been mystifying your fellow humans with my astounding elegance and enchanting appearance for years.
I know my appearance is simply captivating.
Even now you can’t take your eyes off me. You just never thought that something as insidious as Pride would be so, well so…alluring.
Right?
I know you agree. I can see it in your eyes.
Oh, don’t be ashamed. It’s nothing to feel uncomfortable about.
Why, I’m one of the most basic of emotions. And you know, you really need to stay in touch with your emotions.
Come closer. Let me show you my extensive wardrobe. It simply never goes out of style. Why I have an outfit for practically every occasion. There isn’t a situation, gathering, meeting or event I’m not equipped to handle.
Oh, you’re astonished that I would have so many different appearances.
I know, I can so easily slip in and out of room, no one hardly notices…until the damage is done.
Oh, come on silly and look…looking never hurt anyone…right?
This is one of my favorites. Do you like it? I call it “shyness.”
It always works so well. I can slip into this one, fade into the woodwork and never have to interact with anyone. I can stay safe and protected. Never have my feelings hurt. Never run the risk of offending anyone. It’s great!
Anytime He asks me to do something, I simply say…but I’m too shy. It lets me off the hook and most people overlook my tendency to avoid obedience.
Now this one is a really knock-out! In fact, most people tend to feel sorry for me. It is a great little attention getter. Why it’s my basic black sheath! Come into a room wearing this, and I can control the entire room.
Ah, yes, self-pity…such a great little manipulator! When I’m wearing this, I glean all kinds of sympathy and understanding. No one puts any demands on me…and well what can He possibly expect from me…after all, my circumstances are so bad … who’d blame me?
I see you eyeing that flashy red dress in the corner. Oh, don’t bother with that one. It’s too brash. Too loud. I come into the room wearing that and I’m immediately recognized.
I think Carley Simon wrote a song once…something about “you’re so vain…”
It’s a cheap trick. It can still turn a few heads, but it’s just too obvious. I prefer the more subtle approach.
When I come in cloaked in a less noticeable outfit, I can slip my icy life sucking tentacles in so deep, virtually unnoticed.
Oh, I have a full range of outfits from discouragement to disappointment.
What, you don’t think those outfits are “prideful?”
See, how easily you’ve been fooled.
You humans are so easy to deceive. You almost take all the fun out of it.
Pride is simply saying you know what’s best. I simply means He isn’t in control and doesn’t know what to do in your life.
So get discouraged. Wallow in self-pity. Allow every disappointment in your life to wrap itself around you. Convince yourself that your situation is just too impossible for Him to do anything about it…and whaw-lah - PRIDE - has taken over your life.
And you just thought I was that boastful arrogant know-it-all at the office that makes your life miserable!
Tisk, tisk, tisk…
See how easily my disguises work!
Now, get along. I’ve got lots of work to do. The new Summer line is premiering online at www.allaboutme.com!
Talk to you later, doll!
C’ya!
