Marylea is an ordained elder in her denomination and for the past eighteen years she has served as pastor at the same inner city church.
She is a published writer, (not recently) who is finding that she enjoys several genres of writing.
She has loved writing since childhood and one of her greatest disappointments was when all of her writing was lost during a move.
When writing poetry her favorite style is forced rhyme.
She also oversees a rehab house for women in recovery and works with women who have been sexually abused in childhood in small groups and one to one. since 2006 she is envolved with We Care Connection a ministry to the homeless.
