Shaun Stevenson is a contributing album reviewer at Jesusfreakhideout.com, has had multiple devotionals published in Devo'Zine, and has had an article published on DareToBelieve.org. His books, Summer of Trust, and Redone, are available for purchase!

I was born and raised in a Christian home, with parents who dragged my brothers and I to church every Sunday. They also decided to put us in this program called AWANAS on Wednesdays. It was at one of those Wednesday night meetings that I placed my heart in His hands.

It was around December, and the AWANAS leader was talking to us first-graders about how Jesus came to earth and died on the cross. We all bowed our heads in prayer after that, and I prayed and asked Jesus to come into my heart. Later, I told my parents what I had done, and they prayed with me in the living room of our little mobile home.

My dad lost his job not too long after that, and a year later, he finally found a job in another state. We packed up everything we had and moved. Once in our new apartment, we started looking for a church, and found a great one not too far away.

Over the years I was involved in the youth group stuff at the church, and slowly began to grow in my walk with God. In junior high, I started trying to actually daily read the Bible and spend time with God. A defining moment came in my life, however, when I started attending the Christian school that was connected with my church. I started learning more and more through that school what a personal relationship with Jesus really looked like.

In the summer of my sophomore year, God gave me the opportunity to go to Spassk, Russia on a mission trip with my church. I went for five weeks, and while I was there I had some of the scariest moments of my life. I was mugged, went through a typhoon on the Russian beach, was the closest I had ever been to a dead body, the list goes on. But God showed me his faithfulness. He showed me that He is always there, right by our side through thick and thin, and that He will take us through the fire and the water.

I don't know who you are, or where you are, or what you've done with your life, but there's one thing I know for sure: if you don't know Jesus Christ as your personal Savior, then you need Him desperately. Jesus said this, "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son that whoever believes in Him will not perish, but have eternal life." (John 3:16) Put your faith in Him. Ask Him to forgive you of your sin. And He will give you forgiveness and eternal life.

In Him,
Shaun Stevenson

MY NEWS
03.02.06
Well, after my dive into poetry for a school term, I've emerged and started writing some creative non-fiction again. Two of my latest pieces have been posted on Faith Writers. Here's the links if you'd like to check them out: Hide and The Other Side of Something. I would love to get any feeback on either of them.

In other writing news, I've been working on a project with my brother and sister - a radio drama script based on Esther. I co-wrote a first part based on Esther becoming Queen in Babylonia, with my high school drama teacher two years ago, and we titled it, "Miss Babylonia". We had so much fun writing that script, that I wanted to continue the story of Esther, and so now we're working on a part two of sorts. It's been a lot of fun to work on.

Novel Update: I am working on a sequel to Summer of Trust, a story about Kyle in Ecuador, which I visited this past summer. I'm pretty excited about it, and have worked through the first couple of chapters. Be watching for a preview chapter coming soon to Faith Writers.com!

God Bless,
Shaun S. ><> :)

My second novel, REDONE is finally available! Pick up your copy today at cafepress.com/youthimpact.

This one took nearly four years to complete, and is the first of a three-part series. Check out my preview of the novel by clicking the link below the "News"! Then pop over to the website and pick up a copy!

Please be in prayer that this book will touch lives and bring people closer to Christ. There is a strong message of salvation in the story that I really don't want people to miss.

Thanks as always!

So I've taken up poetry! I'm doing a poetry class right now at college, and so I've been working on a few different poems. They're posted in the Critique Circle for viewing and for people wanting to help me out with critiquing!

Actually, my poetry is kind of a cool little story. I had been writing some stuff that just didn't work - kept flopping. Then I started focusing on writing poetry about Christ, and stuff just starting popping out like crazy! My newest poem, "Add To The Beauty" (inspired by Sara Groves & my own mission trip to Ecuador) is posted. Take a peek!

Thanks,

After quite the hiatus, Shaun has returned with his latest submission to Faith Writers! Now out of high school and attending college, he has been excitedly working on a number of essays, the first of which has been published here on Faith Writers, entitled "Anthem".

His book continues to be received well from both younger and adult audiences. Currently, he is working on both an anthology of essays and a second novel.

Please be praying for all things to go well!

Thank you!

Hi everyone! I thought I would just give you a quick update on everything that's going on! I got my first assignment as a member on the Devo'Zine Teen Advisory Board, and I found out I'm getting paid to do this! That made me very excited. :) I'm also working on a few articles for the magazine.

I finally finished writing Redone, my novel for young adults, and I am so incredibly excited about it. Right now I'm working on editing and just reading through. I've also begun the search for the right agent to represent the book. Please be praying about it!

Book News: Right now Summer of Trust is in the stages of having a cover designed, which I'm very excited about as well. (Obviously I'm very excited!) After cover design, the book goes to print, and then I get my author copies for review. And then, six weeks from that date, the book will be available for purchase! I believe I will have pre-order info soon though, and I will post that as soon as I can. If you pre-order it, you can get it at a discount price.

That's it for now!
Shaun (Be praying!!)

I was just notified this morning that I've been accepted to serve on the Teen Advisory Board for Devo'Zine for the 2004-2005 year! I'm very excited about this, as I will get to have a hand in suggestions for the magazine and reviewing graphics and whatnot. Should be fun - and good experience!

Book News:I had my first media interview regarding writing on Friday, June 18th. A lady from a local newspaper came out to interview me regarding my book, Summer of Trust! It was a lot of fun and very exciting to be interviewed. Other than that, I'm expecting the book to be for sale this fall!

Keep praying!

Wow, it has been quite a while since I've posted any news! Since the last time I posted, I've had an article published on DareToBelieve.org, and also in the upcoming November/December 2004 issue of Devo'Zine magazine, I'm having my devotional, "Breaking The Mold" published.

Book News: Everything's running along smoothly. Right now I'm waiting to see the lay-out of the book from my publisher, and then it's on to cover design! Please be praying that everything would be exactly the way the Lord wants it.

Thanks!

Just today, my newest review appeared on Jesusfreakhideout.com: one on Ginny Owens' Something More album from 2002.

Update on Summer of Trust: Please be praying for it! Right now I'm working on my final edit, and then my publisher can get further along with it. I'm also working on writing the synopsis for the back cover and various other things related to the book. I'll keep you all updated on it!

My article "Gay" is going to be published on DaretoBelieve.org in the near future. I'm excited for this article to get some more wide-spread exposure. Please be praying that it will touch people's lives!

That's all for now!
Shaun
