Although writing has always been a passion of mine, it has largely remained on the back burner of my life’s cook top. I found out at a young age I could make more money building buildings than I could as a writer. On occasion, I would join a writer’s group or take a writing course at a community college, but the construction industry dominated a major portion of my adult existence. In my late twenties I got married, became a Christian and started a family. I have two wonderful sons (high school aged at the time of this writing), a fabulous wife, Mardi, and two dogs that I never take to the beach. A few years ago I decided it was time to get serious about writing, pledging to spend my devotional time writing instead of reading. The result was ‘The Contractors Guide to Theology and Deep Thinking’, a light-hearted devotional book that utilizes construction analogies to demonstrate how we can find evidence of God in something as ordinary as a concrete foundation or a handful of nails. I am still in the process of final editing and looking for a publisher. As I was nearing completion of that book, I felt a need to join a writer’s group again. I stumbled upon FaithWriters.com and have found that the FaithWriters community satisfies my writer’s group needs without ever having to leave my house. I’ve had several of my short stories published in the FaithWriters anthology books and will soon have an article published in their online magazine. I look forward to continuing my Christian writing career and pray that God will touch the people who read my work.
