Dixie is a pastor’s wife of more than thirty years. She and her husband Paul have four grown children and have been honored to serve the Gospel Lighthouse Church in Floyd, Iowa, for 28 years.

Dixie began writing seasonal plays for children in 1987. These delightful programs have been published by Abingdon Press, Standard Publishing, Eldridge Publishing, Evangelizing Today’s Child and Gospel Publishing House.

She had two children’s books, “Angel Eyes” and “Stubby’s Destiny” released in 2008 by Guardian Angel Publishing. “Stubby’s Destiny” was awarded the 2008 Best Children’s Animal Story by Books and Authors. Guardian Angel Publishing will be releasing three more of her children’s books later this year.

While Dixie enjoys writing for children, she also has a passion for writing God’s truths. Her stories have been chosen to be part of numerous anthologies, Sunday school papers, an award winning devotional, Christian e-zines and periodicals. She has ghostwritten books on marriage, health, poetry and personal testimonies.

Presently, she is a ghostwriter and a topical curriculum writer for Randall House.

The Phillips’ only son John gave his father a kidney for Father’s Day in 2008. Their hearts continue to swell with thanksgiving for this gift of life. The Phillips’ favorite pastime is counting their blessings.

I try to write for the small church because they might not have the financial resources or the manpower to put on a grand production. I've learned that children have a way of stealing the show with or without a lot of props.

Another children's ministry resource I co-wrote with our assistant pastor's wife, Lucy Robbins. It is entitled, "Bible Story Skits for Children" and was published by Eldridge Publishing. It geared toward early elementary children.

MY NEWS
I have six children's picture books which have been accepted by Guardian Angel Publishing. "Angel Eyes" was released in August 2008. "Stubby's Destiny" was released in September 2008. "One Noble Journey" and "Baby Jesus is Missing" will be available in the Fall of 2009. "The Furry Godmother" and "Stilts the Stork" will be released next year. These are my first books that aren't drama related so it's a new adventure for me and I'm enjoying the trip.

I have to tell you that once again it was the FaithWriter's Challenge that got my creative juices flowing for "Stubby's Destiny." That entry didn't even place in the Challenge, but I knew there was a need for this story. Every day, my husband and I come in contact with abused and neglected children. This is their story. Stubby is a defeated donkey, who feels he was born wrong, but then something wonderful happened - he was chosen to carry the King of Kings upon his back. I sent it to Lynda Burch with Guardian Angel Publishing and she accepted it. My prayer is that it will give hope to every child that might feel they have been born wrong – that they will see it's not how you start in this life but how you finish that's important.

"Angel Eyes" has also been accepted by Guardian Angel Publishing and is to be ready this summer. I just received the first preview this week of the "pencil" illustrations for the book, by illustrator Kim Sponaugle. She has a heart for ministry, too, and it shows in her illustrations.

"Angel Eyes" is the story of two mischievous cherubs – Kennedy and Tristan. It is a heartwarming adventure about how the angels must have felt when their Prince Emmanuel left Heaven where He was worshipped and adored and came to Earth and was crucified. My prayer is that as Mommies, Daddies, Grandmas and Grandpas read this story to their little ones, young hearts will invite Jesus into their lives.
