Then Fear proposes “Flee!”.
Comforter reminds me though,
whose voice I am to be.
My frightened heart beats fast. I know
what others, blind, don’t see.
Would I forgive, compassion show?
What’s right in front of me.
Approach, then pardon? Light the way
that leads to precious door?
To open gates of grace today?
To nurture pain no more?
You see, assault has left its stain.
“I can’t forgive him, Lord!”
Then trembling finger reaches out
in fear, to touch the thing
that propagated pain and doubt.
Appalled he’s here again.
Dread permeates my being now.
“Lord, keep me from the sting.”
There’s passion in the brightest eyes.
The captor somehow knows.
A girl in pink believes the lies,
and leaves her sheltered home.
Now tired. Terrors every night.
I knows that I must face
the monster. Love will make it right.
Either that, or hate.
My timid tap re-turns the beast.
I face my foe at last.
What fills my timid soul, a peace.
The demon is downcast.
“I forgive!”
His grace I see
as crusted shackles, quick, release.
And I have been set free!
