The minute I get into bed,
Not wallow and wiggle and toss,
But go right to sleep then instead.
I lie on one side for awhile,
And then I turn onto the other.
At first I am hot, then I’m cold
And reaching to pull up the cover.
I hear the dogs barking next door
And wonder when they will get quiet.
I’d like to go put them inside
But know that I shouldn’t dare try it.
Recalling a favorite verse,
I offer to heaven a prayer
That God will bless all that I love
And help those in need everywhere.
I hope I’ll remember next morning
The poem that’s inside my mind.
I tap with my fingers the rhythm,
Considering words for a rhyme.
I’m wishing that I could relax
The minute I get into bed,
Not wallow and wiggle and toss,
but go right to sleep then instead.

I enjoy when I can just close my eyes and drift off to sleep, but most nights I am just like the MC.
