It was Alexander Graham Bell
Who made the first phone call:
“Mr Watson, please drop all
You’re doing in there
And come to me here.”
Auditory reception
On this new-fangled contreption
Was unmistakably fuzzy -
So, he wants me, does he?
Murmured the assistant,
Yet Watson responded that instant.
Making history in two ways:
First - by conversing on an invention that now plays
Such a vital role
In our whole
Communication system.
However, this Mr Bell could still have missed ’em.
Second - Bell was less clever and a little more dumber -
For he was trying to call an unlisted number!
Yet history shows that he got through,
And from there the invention grew.
Back then in March 1876,
Some laughed and said, “Bell predix
Big things for the phone -
That it will even outdo the Pon
-y Express!”
“Yes, it’s my educated guess,”
Bell confirmed -
While these naysayers squirmed,
“That the popularity of the telephone
Will mean that each American town will have one of its own!”
Author’s note: Bell made his prediction when he patented his invention only hours before his rival Elisha Gray registered his version. His view of the scope of telephony has proved to be a tad modest; given the exponential growth in modern personal and international communication. But hey, if even experts can get it wrong, there’s hope for us all.

Well done my friend.
God bless~
So brilliantly bad,
Your nearly rhyme had,
A plethora of glitches,
That creased me in stitches.
I quickly assumed,
That your brain had malfumed,
Now there's a colloquialism,
To top any Noelogism.
But I will not compete,
'Cos I've got cold feet,
And you are the master,
Of rhyming disaster!!!
Keep 'em coming...
Who could tell
If your verse
Is worse
Than my verbal collection's
Lack of directions?
Yet the words you choose
For your reviews
Are a regular source of mirth
From this side of the Earth
