Topic: GATHERING (07/14/16)
He speaks unlike the rabbis they have heard,
The penetrating power of His word
Traverses depths where unknown sorrows hide,
It reaches where the secret sins abide.

This truth gets through the calloused fortressed heart;
Defences fail, it scales each hewn rampart;
Nothing’s hidden from its double edged sword
It pierces where the treasured lusts are stored.

It either reaps or scatters— truth profound—
Believe it or not—there is no middle ground;
Nothing’s said to coerce or compromise—
His Truth is truth and cannot be disguised

Nothing’s changed though He’s no longer here
The word of truth draws those with ears to hear;
From diverse lands all gathered into One—
We’re family united in the Son.

Those who have believed, from sin’s bondage freed,
Inheritance in glory guaranteed
Though outcasts in a Christ-rejecting place,
Though mocked and scorned, the vessels of His grace.

His family, from every race on earth,
His children all by virtue of new birth
Assembled in His name in one accord
To praise and worship Jesus Christ the Lord.

Our hearts are fixed on a yet future home—
Saints of all the ages gathered ‘round His throne;
Convocation of believing millions sing
In honour of their Saviour, Lord and King.
