Hmmm—let’s see, what’s the subject? Oh, yeah…sneak.
The Definition as stated in Encarta Dictionary defines the word “sneak” as a verb, and offers the following:
Stealthy departure: a departure intended to be unobserved.
And another is: Untrustworthy person: a person regarded as cunning and deceitful.
Well, first off…I can honestly say I’ve been guilty of a stealthy departure many times over. There have been numerous circumstances where I’ve tried, and managed to escape without being noticed.
I mean, I had to, otherwise, the consequences would have had dire repercussions, of which I wouldn’t have been able to retract. Although, one of those times, I did get caught...but I was able to save face.
Some scenarios I've been involved with have included the following:
(1) Urgently needing to use the restroom while an important sermon is being preached in a very crowded church. Try doing that! Yeah, try making your goal before the flood gates open as your hand is on the door and the Pastor says; “Going somewhere?”
(2) Fervently eyeing the best escape route to keep from falling asleep, during a laborious meeting, in which the speaker was redundant—albeit, eloquent and articulate—and reiterated way too much.
(3)In a situation that hardly called for an outburst of laughter—thanks to the outlandish antics of my best friend—which caused me to jump up unceremoniously to race out the back door of the conference room, where the State department was giving a serious address, of issues facing the elderly, in nursing homes.
Now, based entirely on the above circumstances, and only on the above circumstances, and only the first definition, stealthy departure, I guess I’m guilty of being a “sneak.” Given the evidence based on my behavior, I feel I must accept the title with the utmost humility, and accept it willingly.
So, this is what I’ve come up with for the subject, and word sneak. I believe I might have nailed it.
So...here’s the thing though, I must ask myself some very important questions:
Q:Did I do the things a writer is supposed to do in order to keep the readers engaged? A:I don’t know. My mind is too cluttered at the moment to figure it out.
Q:How do I conclude? A: Again, I don't know. My closing paragraph should be about the subject, after all it’s supposed to be my clincher. I’ve got to end it, but how?
If a brilliant idea tries to sneak into my final paragraph, I must pluck it out, or let it have its own paragraph in the body, or leave it out completely.
Decisions, decisions, decisions.
Q:Should I end on a positive note? A: Not too positive or I might be accused of being “cheesy.”
Hey—wait a second! I don’t know how to say this, and I truly apologize to those who prefer drama, and sad endings to happy ones, but I really like cheesy!
However, upon further review, I’ll have to acquiesce and make an exception in this case. Because for this particular story, cheesy just doesn’t seem to belong in any part of this article.
Oh well, how about the following wrap-up?
Since I don’t know how to effectively draw a satisfactory close to please all of my readers, while sharing this story...
I’ll just leave quietly.
