with this broken heart
and how do I move
on
a step into space
a now empty place
once home to a much loved
one
days melt away
months and years give way
to a muddled and mixed up
world
but at each break of day
I rise anyway
and begin to feel more
settled
though my heart is not whole
the space still stone cold
each passing moon brings
courage
each morn a new start
each day a new chart
each moment new memories
forged
they say time will heal
but that’s not how I feel
as scar tissue is pulling
tight
yet I still raise my voice
it’s my soul’s choice
knowing He’s won every
fight
so how do I start
with this broken heart
I daily give thanks to
God
Jesus, His name
always the same
the motivation that leads me
on
