Made a
Momentous impact.
In fact
Lots of people were affected
Whose identities are no longer protected…
The Gentiles could barely absorb it
From within their obscure spiritual orbit.
Offering no apology
For their astrology,
They were SUPERSTITIOUS!
Mean-spirited Pharisees
Could not accept such delicacies.
They considered themselves too good
To imagine such food!
They were OFFICIOUS!
Each scribe and priest
Was unimpressed to say the least.
Such miracles they’d abhor -
Not so much against the law -
But surely such victuals
Would contravene their rituals!
Rigorously
And vigorously
They’d track such mischief down
And run it out of town!
They were MALICIOUS!
The miracle did not please
The haughty Sadducees.
This culinary confection
Faced their rejection –
Along with any thought of resurrection.
Whose slightest suggestion
Was out of the question.
They tried to besmirch
The leaders of the Church;
And even today – should it be found
That they were still around –
Yes, two millennia later
Their efforts would be even greater
In trying to aboLISH US!
Your average Rabbi
Would probably try
To look for a
Guide from the Torah.
Yes, he’d be SUSPICIOUS!
Galileans would all agree
On their desire to be free,
For every Galilean
Longed to see an
Increasing desire
For the coming Messiah
Who would break the Roman yoke…
Roman occupation was no joke –
Any way you’d tell it
Especially to a Zealot;
For those short-fused folks had a tradition
Of sedition.
They were VICIOUS!
Philip the Tetrarch
Was left in the dark.
Which upset his need
To satisfy his greed.
He was AVARICIOUS!
Herod in his palace
Kept on plotting malice.
For behind his oily smile
Lurked cavernous depths of guile.
He was EXPEDITIOUS
Yet PERNICIOUS!
Catering for five-thousand people plus
Could have easily caused a fuss
In that late afternoon,
For darkness would come soon.
Some people might swoon
Or hoot like a loon;
Ready even to collapse
Perhaps.
With hunger driving them to the brink,
They could only think
Of their favourite dishes.
Yet with only five loaves and two fishes,
Jesus fed the crowd
Whose appreciation was loud
For a feed
That met their need -
And what really rocks
Is that it all came from a kid’s lunchbox!
This miracle meal fulfilled their wishes.
And it was NUTRITIOUS and DELICIOUS!
* * * * * *
But now I must decline
To continue this poem of mine:
A crime of rhyme
That’s far from sublime -
With rhythm UNREPETITIOUS
And research mostly FICTITIOUS.
Yes, the verse must cease
Lest the literary police
Become so provoked
That my poetic licence is revoked!

I also added a couple of words to my vocabulary.
As I always do with your writing, I read this with a great big grin on my face and just a bit of head shaking. :)
Bravo and encore:)
I learned a few new words (had to look them up in the dictionary) so thanks for teaching this pup new tricks.
Nice job.
Blessings~
