It seldom wears an ugly dress,
For your seduction’s its intent;
Its lusciousness is meant to tempt
To lure its target to transgress.
The eyes, the window to the soul
Most frequent point of its access;
If it attains a slight foothold
Desire accedes to lust’s control
Should we in weakness acquiesce.
Eve gazed upon forbidden fruit
As the tempter worked his lies;
Seduced to question what was truth,
In fallen wisdom’s vain pursuit
Lost innocence and Paradise.
Down through the ages lust still reigns
Delicious morsels draw us in
Though expertise has made great gains
Man’s progress cannot keep restrained
Our fallen nature’s tryst with sin.
But Paradise can be regained
If we but do as God has said
For He in Christ’s shed blood proclaimed
Redemption in Lord Jesus’ name,
In Him He crushed the serpent’s head.
Eye has not seen nor ear has heard
Nor has it ever entered mind
The things that God in love’s prepared;
But all who take Him at His Word
In Christ are Paradise-assigned.
The enticement of such truth delights,
Is most delicious to the soul,
Lifts one up to Heaven’s heights;
In Spirit man with God unites
So bless the Lord my joyful soul.
