a baby’s coos and smiles
the innocence of youth or
shout outs from those across the miles
What’s more fun than
picnics under sturdy, shady trees
with Gramps and Grams and cousins
playing games, visiting with ease
What’s more comforting than
A loving, listening ear
warm hugs from our fathers
reassurance from mothers dear
What’s more valuable than
the nurture of moms and dads
laughter around our tables
because every heart is glad
What’s more important than
bonds of love with family
standing by each other
through our joys and adversities
What’s more treasured than
sacrificial unearned love
freely given to His children
from our Father high above
. . .and growing ever faithful
through Scripture’s words so true
drawing closer to our Savior
honoring Him through all we do
Help me be more mindful Lord
of blessings wrapped in grace
to treat others like family
so in me they’ll see Your face
