She never really had enough.
Shopping was her favorite sport.
She always spent more than she ought.
Her wardrobe overflowed with shoes,
the reds, the greens, the blacks and blues.
She crammed in dresses, fifty four,
but still she wanted more and more.
In her kitchen, shelves were stacked
with equipment, tightly packed,
appliances of every kind,
to chop and mix, and slice and grind.
Everything that buzzed and whirred,
heated, cooled, or whipped and stirred.
found a nook or cranny there,
every type of kitchen ware.
The bathroom was of trendy style,
refurbished every little while.
Its bulging cupboards overflowed
with tubes and jars of every mode,
sprays and bottles, creams and scents,
vitamins and supplements.
Piles of coloured towels sat
on every surface that was flat.
Her husband said she must curtail,
but he spoke to no avail.
With acquisition unabated,
its impact sadly underrated,
Lifestyle Lisa filled her place,
in every single spot and space,
with this and that and even more,
until they couldn't close the door.
Well, that was it, her husband said,
with blazing eyes and face quite red.
“I'm calling the collectors in.
Reduction must at last begin.”
He sent poor Lisa off, away,
on the Great Reduction Day,
“Spend your money as you roam,
But don't bring even one thing home.”
