The Franklins had a meeting,
Where every family member
Got to vote on where to go.
With passion strong for growing things,
Mom was always found
With a trowel in her hands.
Her desire was to travel
Where she could walk through gardens
Of beautiful shrubs and flowers.
. . . The baby just wanted to sleep.
For Dad the love of golfing
Was second to his love for God and family.
He went golfing on each Friday with his friends.
His vote was to discover a golf course
Where he could try his luck
At whacking the little white ball.
. . .The baby just wanted to sleep.
Mary Lou enjoyed above all things
To go shopping with her buddies.
She wanted to take two girls along
With plans to visit a variety of malls
And to spend their days together
Trying on clothes and looking for bargains.
. . . The baby just wanted to sleep.
The thing consuming Junior’s mind
Was baseball, baseball, baseball.
When not playing with his team
Or with guys in the neighborhood,
His eyes were glued to games on television.
He opted to go to a baseball game.
. . . The baby just wanted to sleep.
And so after much discussion,
The family agreed unanimously:
They would take their vacation
At home.
