Upon pink petals where early my heart’s drawn
Slaking thirst of the soul, this garden to stroll
My Eden, where this ugly duck becomes swan
Waiting there in the stillness of peace, He smiles
That I’ve kept our tryst among verdant hedge aisles
Voice rises as incense, to Him a sweet essence
Prayers to my first love, enfolding His presence
From sagging shoulders drop deep heavy cares
As He lifts all my burdens and strength with me shares
Illumining pathways to heaven’s blue shores
This soul loving Savior whom this heart adores
In spirit is heard sweet seraph melodies,
Honey-voiced praises to Jesus, ride breezes
The Author of life, the King of Creation
Now launched to my day with strong adoration
Then lifting this Spirit to soar on life’s winds
He stays close beside me winging as friends
As down to the valleys we swoop to the work
Combating flesh-foes, we shine truth where they lurk
Once busyness called—stole off with this hour
I crashed in the valley—I’d left without power
Entwined in myself, our meeting forgotten
As enemies came, sowing seeds black-rotten
With a heart full of dirt, I cried out for rescue
Knee bent confession, prayed, “My soul is bruised blue!”
My Savior’s lightening quick hands faithfully flew
Washing and cleansing and from danger withdrew
The lesson hard earned, oh how frail is this flesh
For He is my strength, whom without I’m a mess
Each day I must meet Him, when Jesus does share
All that He is, through my sweet hours of prayer
